Ok so I'm thinking about having a boardwalk theme for the reception since we got married at the boardwalk.......Ok I am going have our 8x10 picture of us in front of the boardwalk sign on display, the one in my siggy,on our guest book table,I thought that would be cute.....so for my centerpieces I decided to do live fish, beat fish in the bowls and make the bowls alll pretty...put a goldfish at the kid table.Any other ideas?????

Oh I am making the mickey head rice cryspy treats :) have them set up in a basket near the desert table along with the chocolate fountain.....

I was thinking of renting a popcorn machine for the kids.

What a great idea Lynn! I remember Victoria had a theme like that for her wedding and she had awesome ideas. I think she had these candy centerpieces and all the tables had names like: carousel, ferris wheel or something like that.

Have cotton candy!!!!! Everything else sounds really cool! Are you having assigned seats? You can give each table a boardwalk name or Jersey shore points like the Ocean City Table, Wildwood Table, Steel Pier Table, etc.

Great idea. Our reception is at ADH and we are thinking of putting Salt Water Taffy on the tables and we are using Mickey shapped balloons in our wedding colors in different places in the room.

I think naming the tables from different places on the Jersey Shore is a great idea.

Linda

Lynn, are you wearing your dress to your reception?

Yes :) Not my veil though,I'm going to wear my hair down with soft loose curls and put a pretty type of hairpiece on the side where I tack some hair back.

Thank you for the ideas....well for centerpieces I'm going to do live beta fish in the bowls with 3 floating candles(I think the fish should be ok lol not like it's going to jump out and get burned lol) ummm and put come sand in the bottom with some shells and starfish, rose petals around the bowls and 2 votive candles, one on each side of the bowl. At the kids table same thing, just no candles.

I'll post pics of everything soon in my TR...I'm so busy, hopefully I can finish my TR sime time this week and start working on the details for the reception in the TR.

I love your theme, we did a themed party for our at-home reception and everyone loved it! We did a red carpet theme (we got engaged in a theater and we were showing our video) we had a concession stand set up with large glasses of candy for people to scoop out and a popcorn machine. The popcorn machine was a huge hit, the smell was great as our guests were walking in and everyone including the adults filled up on popcorn popcorn:: popcorn::

That is such a great idea..might have to steal it LOL...My BIL has a popcorn maker so I was going to rent one but he yelled at me and said he had one lol.

We'll also be getting married at the BW (SBP) and our at home reception is at a complex right by the sea at the end of the foreshore road (we live by the sea) so we are planning on decorating our tables with a mixture of rose petals and white shells, and for favours having a stick of red and white rock with our names through it :goodvibes
Not quite boardwalk perhaps, but a little bit of seaside theming.....

I love the cotton candy idea! I wonder if we could somehow incorporate this as well! Maybe we could have some sort of tall vase things as centerpieces that are filled with it and then have ballons coming from the top somehow. But then where would I just get 10 tall vases, I presume a florist would want to sell me flowers as well! Although maybe they don't need to be that tall, as that'd mean a lot of cotton candy. The balloons would still give it height.

I wonder if I'll be able to get hold of candy floss (that's what we call it here!) in November though. You can get machines for home though can't you. And is it weird having summery things in winter? Although our excuse could be we're bringing back some Florida sunshine!

Sorry Lynnie,
totally crashing your thread there with my thought processes, but I love that idea! :lmao:

That's perfect, we were going to rent one from a rental company, but our hall ended up having one that we were able to use. :thumbsup2
