this july we decided to stay at another dvc resort and i decided that i would like to stay at boardwalk. i love the location and well i jst love the resort. my son the sports nut also loves it because of it proximity to espn club.

well i made our reservations at SSR for our july with the idea and hopeing that i could get into boardwalk at the 7 month window. as standard view in the middle of july, i was not too hopeful of getting it but i would have been very happy jujst being there. well to my suprise i called and was able to book for the 14th - 21st. 1 bedroom

after speaking to the lady who changed my reservation she suggested i take a room on the higher floors so i could view parts of the fireworrks.

well what i need to know is has anybody stayed in a room that has the standard view designation and how bad really is the view. i am just curious since i do like to spend my early mornings before my family wakes up sitting outside having a cup of coffee.

We generally get standard view (more days for us at WDW) and we've always enjoyed it. The view is towards the "drive up" part of the resort, and there's a buffer of greenery/or canal between the building and parking lot. We love sitting on the balcony with our morning coffee, or with our wine in the evening, and have never had a problem with privacy or noise.

It's not bad at all. I always requested top floor, across from the bus stop and got great views of Illuminations. There have been complaints of noise with the rooms near the elevators, over the valet area.

I have a standard view 1 bedroom booked for march and am wondering if there are any requests I should make to get a quiet location??? I know my view options will be limited, but a view of the canal would be nice also! And, I also wonder if a 1rst floor will be okay?? I like having a patio! Thanks for any insight!

Lower floors are more likely to have trees in the way, but we've generally had good luck with standard views. We had lovely canal views or overlooked the flower beds in the front.

I've never gotten a high floor request met there - I think its a popular request. The view from the first floor wasn't much (the hill up to the driveway), but it was very convienient to get the kids to the pool there.

We've always had standard views and have been very pleased. We've had high floors & ground floor. The ground floor was nice because we were blocked by trees and shrubs and it really gave our patio a secluded feel. I went out many times unnoticed in my pjs. It was also great to be able to walk out to the boardwalk, pools, community hall, and bus stop without messing with stairs or elevators. The upper floors had nice views of the lawn and some fireworks, and we never had a problem with noise. This is looking from the sidewalk to the bus stop back toward our room. We were in the large red section behind the smaller tree.

We had a 1 bedroom SV this summer. We were in the very small yellow building behind the tree (that is now bare - but wasn't in August). The tree was nice to provide a little privacy, but it also somewhat blocked what views there were of Illuminations. Our room # was 4101. All in all, a very good use of our points and if they told me that was the room I would always get, I would say good for me! Our view was mainly of the circle drive and portico.

thanks to all who replied.

it seems like we made a good decision when choosing the standard view.

now if we can score a room here for the next F&W festival that would truly be magic!!:wizard:

Here is the view from our first floor room this past October. It was a great location.

I think those standard views look great? Much better then what I was thinking!

THat's great that you managed to snag a standard view. I just managed to get one for my early May trip, but with a 3 month waitlist and I called daily to get in at the start of my 7 mo. window. I hate being the bearer of bad news, but the chances of getting a standard view during F&W is pretty hard. BWV and BCV are so popular during F&W that there are seldom any rooms available once the 7 mo. window opens--most folks have to waitlist for a day or more. It is so hard to get a standard at BWV during F&W I called day by day at the beginning of the 11 month window and was told they were going fast then and that's being a BWV owner now. (This was why we bought additional points at BWV after our first stay there.) Of course, you should certainly try, but you need to call day by day. I've got a studio/standard booked for Oct. 14-26. I like the standard view and love saving the points!

Our standard view last December was overlooking the area toward the tennis court. Looking toward MGM direction on the second floor. It was nice to sit outside not alot to really look at be who cares when you know it is snowing back home!! We don't spend much time in the room so if it means saving a couple points for another trip it is worth it to me. Couldn't see any fireworks but I prefer to be at the parks for them anyway. Good luck and have fun!

We love std views! I do remember, however, that std views face the sunrise. It did make the early coffee a bit bright and definately scorching in the summer morning sun.

Having said that, we have another std view booked for Columbus day wk. :cool1:

Good for saving points, after all how much are you in the room. But those boardwalk views are OUTSTANDING!

We got back from a standard room at BWV's on the 17th. If you want quiet and a very long walk from the lobby then room 3129 is a great location. Never heard anything. It is a long walk which was ok for us. Out the back door and you were on the path to MGM. Have fun.

The view from 3129 was a well manicured garden with the pond in front. The parking lot is the valet lot but you have the grass and pond between your balcony and the parking lot.To the right of the balcony you could see the boats going to MGM.

We had 3133/3135 standard 2 bedroom view this past Oct. VERY last room, but made it VERY convenient with using the stairs to go to the community hall and quiet pool. It was also nice at night to see TOT lit up as well as some of the Fantasmic fireworks.

If I leaned over the railing a bit :scared1: I could see "some" of Illuminations.
