I'm so mad right now. The week of our wedding the Boardwalk is sold out. They have no rooms available and my fmil and fam can't stay there. We were told during our planning session not to hold too many rooms, if they didn't fill we'd have to pay. Well now the block is full and the hotel booked and the in laws are mad. Has this happened to anyone? I guess if they are all booked up we won't get upgraded either!

I can't stand that Disney can do anything they want! I feel like things like this have happened throughout our planning! :furious:

If it wasn't so close I'd say good riddance and just get married at home!

I don't know of anyone that has had this problem before. Have you spoken with your Sales Manager to see if its possible to get them a discounted rate at another hotel? Perhaps the Yacht or Beach Club so they would still be in the same resort area?

Also, have they checked to see if all the dates they are looking at are sold out? Perhaps they could split their stay? There is always the possibility that rooms will be released closer to your date - especially if other brides have room blocks at the Boardwalk that aren't filled.

I hope that other brides see this and encourage their guests to book as early as possible. Especially other November brides.

Goodness, I am so sorry you are having such a bad experience. I would keep trying closer to time and see if you can get in on any cancellations. Maybe ask them to put you on a cancellation list or something. If not, I would definately ask your SM or Coordinator if you can get a discount at another hotel. It might just be worth the discount to go elsewhere. I hope things start looking up for you!

I'm sorry!

I know others this has happened to and it's common at the Epcot resorts during major events (Food and Wine, conventions etc). Call your coordinator and speak to them, if they cannot help try your planner. Perhaps someone will cancel a room!

I was also advised the samething in the planning session. If you hold say 20 room nights you have to fill a very high percentage of them, otherwise you will get charged for the nights that arent used. We held 57 room nights for our wedding and in order to hold them we had to fill 50 of those nights otherwise we wouldhave been billed the difference! Luckily we filled them all and more really early.

I made sure i told all my family to book as soon as they could - especially as you dont have to pay the full balance until check in. The Epcot resorts do get booked up pretty quickly!

My wedding is Nov 10 and our weddings may be around the same time- The Super Soap and Food and Wine Fest are that weekend- so things are booked. Iam at BC and they have been booked there for a LONG time! I think there is a convention too

We're getting married at seabreeze point and staying at BWI also 10/07/06-10/13/06. I know what your going through. Did you try booking rooms on the villa /DVC side , you can book those rooms at BWV, we almost had to for my parents. It's a really good option for families because theyre all multi-room studios or suites. They also have washers and dryers, and kitchenettes.

I am still not understanding why you were told you would be billed for your block? I was never told we would be billed but that we were required to fill a certain % of the number we blocked- they could hold 20% more rooms than we would guarantee - but me SM never said we would have to pay for them-

I think it says in your contract that you "can" be made to pay if you do not fill the rooms you hold. Im not sure if this applies to the room minimum - we were just advised that if we wanted to hold lots of rooms if we didnt fill them we were liable to pay the difference. As Disney is basically holding that room empty and it may not get filled i guess.

It should be in your contract - it was in ours. We guaranteed 75 rooms and blocked 90. If we didn't meet the guarantee, we would have had to pay the difference. For example if we had 70 rooms reserved by our guests, we would have had to pay for the 5 remaining room nights at the lowest rate in our room block.

I'm not sure how this works, but we were trying to get another room at the GF for some more family that decided to come, WDW said GF was totally sold out, we checked back and checked back so many times -

then...

someone told me to try "expedia" - which we did, they had rooms, and we booked it thru expedia!

Good luck and sorry you are having hassle.

Susy

Oh ok- I get it- we are well over our guaranteed in fact we needed more- so it is just if you do not meet that guarantee- Got ya now!

That stinks.. Sorry to hear that.. I would be mad too.. I hope you will get it resolved soon.. GL

Thanks for the kind words and great advice. We are so lucky (and by we I mean all of us disney wedding brides, grooms, and honeymooners) to have a website full of wonderful people here to help!

I would try some places like Expedia - they get a room "allocation" so they might have some rooms available.
