Thinking about checking out the Boardwalk one night after DHS. I heard it's much better after dark with the strolling entertainment. What are my meal options after 7pm? Will be with two children ages 8 and 11. I'm more interested in quick service and hot food then fancy.

We ate at Big River Grill last week at about 6pm / 7pm - just as it was going dark. We had outdoor seats on the boardwalk - it was a loveley warm busy evening, and atmosphere was very nice - espcially watching the sun set, and the boardwalk get busier and becoming all lit up.

However the service was sloooowwwww - food took ages to come. But service was friendly. During the wait for our food, kids played on the sides stall games opposite - both of them won a plush toy.

Menu was was basic burgers and potato chip style offerings. My father in law had the meatloaf which he said was good. My burger was fine, but nothing amazing. Father In Law and I also had the beer sampler from their brewery which we enjoyed.

We then walked around the boardwalk (watched the magician for a little while) and then walked into epcot, did test rack, and then watched illuminations from near Germany. We walked back to international gateway and caught a boat back to the Beach Club and had an ice cream sundae from Beaches & Cream. (realised once we set off that the walk back would have been quicker, but the boat ride was nice)

Nice evening

Big River Grille and Brew Works!!! Don't let the "Brew" part lead you astray, we've been here many times with children of ALL ages ( from babies to teens ) and they've enjoyed the meal, and if you can manage it, a table right no the Boardwalk overlooking the lake is an awesome way to enjoy a family dinner.

P.S. Be sure to ask for a brewery tour if they are not too busy, they'll be happy to give you one.

They have a few snack stands with chicken, hot dogs, fries etc but I think ESPN or Big River Grille might be nice for a TS place

You can always go with a corn dog and fries off the cart or get pizza from the pizza window. These options are not on the DDP, however.

Also, you might want to check, I know at one point the entertainment on the Boardwalk was not going every night. I want to say it was like Thursday-Sunday, but I can't swear to this! So you might want to be sure that the day you pick to visit, there is entertainment there.

(I hope they have since changed it to every night again. We haven't been there in over a year now)

A quick stroll over to the Dolphin has Fountains, which is GREAT:thumbsup2
for burgers/sandwiches and shakes and all kinds of ice ceam.
And the price is not to bad.

Enjoy!

ESPN would be my first choice, Beaches and Cream at BC another good choice.

Our kids really enjoy going over to the Boardwalk at night. We have eaten and enjoyed both Big River Grille and ESPN. ESPN has huge portions which we can share and both our kids love that place.

Big River Grilling is just ok food, every time we eat there we ask ourselves why we went back, location, location, location.

The DH and I tried out the pizza window when we were there in September and really enjoyed it. We were able to get what we wanted for toppings, and it was ready pretty quickly. It was nice to be able to carry it over to one of the tables by the water and enjoy it right out of the box! We'd definitely try it again!

we stayed at the boardwalk villas in april and tried most of the places. the pizza window is awesome everyone in the group loved it. the big river grill was good as well, was an adult lunch only as the kids were on the sea raycers. so we had an outdoor seat and watched the boys have their fun. espn was the worse meal of our 10 day trip and we will never go back. {not even if i'm starving} yes, it was that bed! the little places on the boardwalk also had some good choice if you just want some finger foods.

I have to say, that after many trips to BW (our home resort), we finally tried the hot dog cart last spring. I was really surprised at how good it was.
The other good spot is Picabu at the Dolphin...it's on the bottom level, towards the back. It's cafeteria style and the food is quite good..it's open 24 hrs, so a good choice if it's getting late.

What type of pizza do they sell? Is it standard disney pizza? Or is it better? I love Wolfgangs fired pizzas but was thinking I really didn't want to run down to DTD after a long day on the road getting there.

Beaches and Cream has better food but ESPN is definitely bigger so easier to get into. The bar food is pretty good. I've had the dingers (buffalo chicken fingers) and cheese fries a few times. Hits the spot when you're in the mood for something less than fancy.

I am not a big fan of the Big River Grille, myself. One of our party had a big peice of glass in their entree.

I would try Cat Cora's place.

I have never been to the boardwalk but I was considering going on this trip....I think you made up my mind!! I will be walking down!!

Thanks!

I never knew Picabu was open 24 hours! Thanks for the tip :thumbsup2

As to which Boardwalk restaurant for kids, ESPN & Big River Grille are the best options. I would think the kids might like Fountains or Beachs & Cream. You could take the boat over to Beach/Yacht Club from the Boardwalk area or just take the boat there first to have dinner and either walk or boat it over to the BW to take part in the evening activities. We had a boardwalk view room in December and the magician was right below our room (we were on the 3rd floor) and it was fun watching him.

ESPN would be my first choice then Big River Grill. We've been to both many times. The kids would like ESPN better.
