We will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas on our trip in September. I love that you can walk to Epcot but I'm worried that we won't be able to get through the International Gateway early in the morning before World Showcase opens. Will they let you in and escort you to Future World or do you have to take a bus to the main entrance?

There is no bus to the front entrance. They do open up the IG a few minutes early so that you can walk up the rope drop area in the plaza next to Innoventions.

You can still get to Future World throught the International Gateway. World Showcase will be roped off. You shouldn't have any problem. You are going to get spoiled being able to walk to EPCOT.

That is one of the perks staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club, the short walk to Epcot.

Don't forget, you can also walk to Hollywood Studios.

Have a great time. :thumbsup2

Thanks for your help everyone. We are very excited to be so close to Epcot and the Studios. And for that matter the bakery. I hear they have the best cinnamon rolls. :cloud9:

We will also be staying there on our first DVC trip (can't wait for the bakery either!). I was unaware that you could walk to Hollywood Sudios! Sorry, maybe a stupid question, but how?

Thanks

There is a sidewalk on the boardwalk side of the canal. It starts behind Jellyrolls, goes along the canal and ends by the bus area at DHS.

Yes...we have walked to HS when we stayed at BCV, it was a very relaxing and easy walk along the pathway but it was not short. Expect your walk to be about 15-25 min. Why bother when you can take the boat from YC or BW pier to take to you HS? Nice Boat ride.

And definitely not worth the walk back after doing HS all day long.

The walk from DHS at the end of the day can be shorter if the line for the boats is very long. Or even during the day if you just missed a boat - the walk is quicker. :thumbsup2

And if you are staying on the back side of BWV you can just take a stairwell down and be on the path and that walk to the studios becomes a 15 min. stroll tops!

The boat ride is nice too, but if you don't mind the walk you can usually beat the boat!!

When using the IG entrance to Epcot, you will enjoy a beautiful morning stroll through a very peaceful, though limited access, World Showcase. Walking through the UK and Canada with virtually no one but your group is a great experience. It's just gorgeous and doesn't matter that nothing is open yet. I love scheduling breakfast at Akershus just before 9am...rock star access to the park as your name is on a list with security and you get to pass everyone waiting until the park opens to enter. I love that.

Also...we walked back to BWV from the Studios a few years ago late at night and the walk felt super long...probably because we missed the last boat and had no choice but to walk (my own fault for shopping too long...oops!). I didn't think I'd ever choose to walk there again. However, with the location of our Villa on our last trip, it was not that much longer of a walk to get to the Studios as it was to the boat dock. With the boat dock line and the time on the boat, walking was much quicker and we did it most of the trip. I figure the more walking I do, the more calories I walk off and boy is that a plus on a Disney vacation!
