Hi everyone! You are all soooo helpful! My family are treking to Disney the 1st week in Dec. I have three children, 9,6, and 2. Do you think we should look into hanging out at the Boardwalk at all. I heard that it's not for kids? Any comments?

Thanks!

It's a nice, cheap, nighttime diversion, but I wouldn't make an special trip for it. Rather, I'd combine it with a visit to one of the nice restaurants on or near the BoardWalk.

We were in Disney the first week of Dec. '05 with our kids who are 6 & 4. We ate dinner at Spoodles one night and spent some time admiring the Xmas decorations at BW. Another night we ate at the Yacht Club Galley and then saw the decorated lobbies of YC and BC. The decorations are amazing and worth checking out if you're in the area.

We have stayed at BW and BWV with our 2 girls 10 and 12. They love the boardwalk. There are a few games to play, a hairwrap that can be done, you can rent the bikes and go for a ride, go to ESPN for lunch and a few games, have an ice cream at the creamery. At night there are strolling acts, with music and magic. I agree, I would make a night of it with dinner at Spoodles or ESPN and then hang out. Or, have dinner in Epcot at one of the countries (if your pass allows) and then take a nice stroll to the boardwalk afterwards for dessert - only 5-10 min through the international gateway. Too tired? Take the friendship boat over to the boardwalk. Nothing beats the view of the site of the boardwalk all lit up at night. One of my favorite after a fun night at Epcot. The bakery is also yummy! You'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

If this is a first trip or a short trip I would skip the boardwalk. My kids do enjoy the magic acts and all the other acts and they like playing the 4 or 5 carnival type games, but we go to disney often and stay at the BC which is walking distance to boardwalk. I just think if this is a first trip or a shorter trip there is soooo much more to do than make a special trip to the boardwalk.

I've never heard that the boardwalk is not for kids. I see kids all over the boardwalk every time we are there. Well, I guess that's true for most of WDW. ;) My kids love the boardwalk. My son still talks about how he won this huge stuffed shark from one of the midway-type games. You can actually win nice stuffed animals and lots of kids around us were winning. My boys love the ESPN restaurant and the store. DD 4 had her faced painted last time we were there (Dec 2005) and loves the bakery and pin carts. We love Flying Fish and walking around after dinner. The Christmas decorations are really beautiful in the lobby-worth going there just to see. :)

I was surprised at the comment that at Boardwalk was not for kids. The dance hall (indoors) is adults only, but the activities on the boardwalk are definitely G rated. You never know what will be there--jugglers, magicians, various carnival type games, etc. It's a wholesome, fun atmosphere.

That said, I don't think it is worth a special trip. It is great when you are staying at Boardwalk or Beach club...I'd go past if I was there for dinner or maybe on the way home from EPCOT or MGM, but I wouldn't make much of an effort just to go for the boardwalk activities.
