Hi Everyone!

I was planning on booking BW but I am worried about the lack of QS, I know they have the deli but that is limited and doesn’t have the typical stuff kids will want. We usually eat late night after parks, before bed and love having options. To make matters harder, I cannot have gluten so I’m assuming that any walk up place (pizza, corn dogs, etc) is out for me.

For people who have stayed here did you find this an inconvenience? Maybe I’m overthinking it. I REALLY wanted to stay here, alternatively I can book beach club

We stayed there in June for our son's wedding and found QS options very limited. Personally we wouldn't stay there again.

Well your walk to the other resorts for more choices is only about 7 minutes so you can get QS at YC, BC, or the Dolphin. You also have the option of To Go orders at Ale & Compass.

When are you planning on traveling since the feature pool SAB will be closed January thru June 2025 for refurbishment?

We just stayed a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it! We have three kiddos, so I was really worried about the lack of dining options, but it honestly didn't bother us at all. The entire crescent lake area is so connected that it was very easy to just go to the marketplace. And honestly, BW deli ended up being a favorite of my kiddos' (they loved the grilled cheese). Leaping Horse (the pool bar) also was really fun, and we ate there a few times, though they may be closed by park close. If BW is a dream resort for you (it was definitely on my bucket list!), don't let the lack of QS stop you from staying! We loved it so much and can't wait to go back!

We struggled eating gluten free when staying at Beach Club or Boardwalk. The Beach Club Marketplace has very few GF options (hot dogs are the only lunch/dinner items available via mobile order right now). When we tried ordering in person in took an hour longer to get a GF sandwich compared to a sandwich on their regular bread which is ridiculous. It was hit or miss at Hurricane Hannah's and Leaping Libations, they didn't always stock the GF bread/rolls needed for some of the menu items, so again it was a long and unneccessary wait.

Your best bet along the Boardwalk is the deli for GF QS. Trattoria al Forno is our go-to table service restaurant on the Boardwalk.

Oh that is very good to know! Last year we stayed at Coronado which is incredible for GF, I am probably completely spoiled now because of them. I wanted BW for the theme and proximity to HS but I might have to reconsider if I’m going to be grumpy bc of food haha

Yes that is a good point, lots of good stuff in walking distance. Not sure how much more walking we will want to do after the parks

Looking at mid July

I love staying in that area, but I do find the type of food options challenging. We have a nut allergy so I do need to plan in advance, but there are many options with mobile order. It involves the extra time to walk to the places you want which is important to consider. We used the pizza window many times, but I am not aware of the GF options. We have used Ale & Compass mobile order and also the QS over there. Carousel Coffee in the lobby has good options for breakfast or snacks although they only had 1 pasty available for nut allergies.

My opinion would be to make a grocery order so that your GF basics are in the room.

Well the good news is it will be dark so it is often 20 degrees cooler.

But if you really mean after the parks close in mid-July you may struggle to find any food. Almost all options if not all close at 11 PM or earlier.

Not after park close, we can’t hang that long! Haha

Thank you for the info!

I've never had a problem, as others have said you have the other two Disney resorts right there and Dolphin is close as well. You don't have to walk, they do have a boat that runs between the resorts, it does take a while since it goes to HS and Epcot and stops at all 3 resorts (BW, YC and Dolphin). Dolphin has a number of options - Fuel is a small sort of grab and go with a few hot options, Picabu is there QS type restaurant, The Fountain is a small sit down restaurant serves sandwiches and such (think Beaches and Cream without the crowd and the kitchen sink). All the places at Dolphin can get it to go but do not have mobile ordering.

Yes, it is limited and inconvenient. It's one reason (among others), why I won't stay at BWI/BWV any more. BC and YC marketplaces have far more options and more seating areas as well.

What I didn't like at Boardwalk was that if I wanted CS, I had to go outside, even if it was raining. At BC, you can access the marketplace, Beaches and Cream, and Cape May Cafe without going outside (well, you may go outside but it's covered).

Yes I’ve seen this mentioned as well

Our family has food allergies and the lack of a true full service QS is the main reason we have never stayed at BW. The BW deli and the other little food places, don't have many options for DD's allergies. We are a big QS food family in general as it saves both time and money and we don't have to have ressies but can just eat when we are hungry.

I would suggest staying at YC. The Market at Ale & Compass has some decent allergy options and my understanding is sometimes the allergy free offerings are actually made at Ale & Compass which is in the same building. You also have the option of Ale & Compass to-go as well as traditional dining in the restaurant, of course.

Another pet-peeve of mine, when BW did the last remodel, they removed the table and chairs from the rooms so there is no place to eat a quick meal in the room without trying to balance it while sitting on the bed. YC still has both the desk and rolling table (tucked under the desk) for in-room quick meals.

We stayed there last year and my daughter has celiac. The only things we had around there was hot dog with no bun at Beach club market. Gluten free pizza at the walk up window but it took really long to get and had breakfast at ale and compass.

I think we might have gotten a gf muffin from the coffee shop inside but I can't remember.

We would stay there again for sure but it was tough for GF food for a kid.

Not a blinded by the light lover of QS but other people I travel with do enjoy it. BWI is a favored resort for me and it helps that I can grab fish and chips from Yorkshire or wurst and a pretzel from Summerhaus (is that the name of the German QS?) when the mood hits.

We loved Boardwalk this past April, but my kiddos are adults now. We really don’t eat much at our hotel, which makes a difference. However, my celiac daughter was very happy with he4 meal from the deli. She was told by the chef they could make her a GF version of any sandwich on the menu. And my daughter is very strict on checking how her food is prepared, and was satisfied she would be safe, and she was.,her sandwich took maybe 10 minutes more than mine. I will add that maybe my Beach Club Marketplace experience was unique, but in the evening, there were only cold choices and those were limited. This was 3 years ago, though.

We own at. Boardwalk and I’m GF. You’re right there are not a lot of options there. However I’ve always been able to make it work. Will usually eat big at the parks and not be too hungry afterwards. I can find something worst case scenario at the deli or marketplace. Epcot is a short walk for tons of options. I’ve heard the cake bake shop has some good gluten free items but I haven’t been there since it opened to try it out yet.
