Eliminating steps:Pinkshells said:The inconvenience of a closed pool a 20 step process...
* spend morning at theme parks; kids want a break and a swim
* 2 kids want swim; 1 kid wants nap
*DH walk to BWI parking lot with kids
*load kids, swimming gear into rental car
*drive to BC/YC-argue with gate attendant that you really do have a right to access the "prestigious pool"
* find parking space
*haul kids and swimming gear out car, trek through lobby avoiding looks of fellow travelers who glare at you because you are going to hijack their pool
*change kids into swimming gear, becuase couldn't let kids walk through "upty" BC/YC lobby in swim suit, & weather maybe freezy cold
*kids swim
Back at the Boardwalk...
*Nap kid wakes up and decides he wants to swim too.
*Negotiate with Nap kid for a different activity; Lose
*Call DH on cell
* make DH pull screaming kids from pool; promise make it up to DH later
*trek back through the lobby soaking wet (because honestly who is going to change kids into plain clothes when you know you are coming right back to the pool)
*DH drive back to BWI
*Pick up DW and Nap kid
*Drive back to BC/YC
*Laugh at gate attendant when he rolls eyes
*Trek back through lobby; swim kids still soaking wet
*Push all kids in pool
(step 1 is day's touring plan, not an actual step)
(step 2 is not really a step, it's just a decision)
Steps 3 through 8: kids dress in swimwear; DH and two kids walk or take boat from Boardwalk Inn to Stormalong Bay with kids and (how much?) swimming gear; enters Stormalong Bay without walking to BWI parking lot or loading kids and gear into car or driving to BC/YC, or 'arguing' with Security Gate CM, or finding a parking space, or hauling kids and gear out of car, or trekking through lobby subjecting self and kids to "uppity" glares, or changing kids into swimwear. Kids swim.
Back at Boardwalk: eliminating steps 11 through 20: Nap kid wakes up and wants to swim. No negotiation necessary. No call to DH necessary. No pulling kids from pool. No trekking through lobby with wet kids. No drive back to BWI. No picking up Mom and nap kid. No driving back to BC/YC. No laughing at rolling-eyes Security. No trekking back through lobby. No pushing kids in pool. INSTEAD, Mom has two choices: (a) walk or take boat from BWI to Stormalong Bay with swim-ready child; or (b) walk to one of BWI's two "quiet" (i.e. non-themed) open pools; child swims.
Yes, the themed pool will be closed (that makes three during the same general period), but there ARE convenient options. Disney makes sure of that.
