Boardwalk No Longer Our Favorite

Even though we can no longer travel, it makes me sad to know that the BWV lobby Christmas decorations have been turned into a money grab. They used to be so lovely. Regarding other issues at BWV, I guess we were the luckiest guests ever. We must have stayed 50 times over our 17 years and i can count on one hand the problems we had. I'll quit typing now. I am making myself homesick.

My BWV stay in December. Dec 2-4 and 11-15 was wonderful in every sense of the word. 2 different 1 bedrooms.

For those of you who think the Yacht Club Christmas decorations were nicer than BW's lobby, I don't see it, but OK we all have opinions.

I find the sofa bed in the 1 bedroom hard to sit on, but I did not spend much time on them.

Did you leave the room or just inspect it the entire stay . Seems you really looking for issues
Just to clarify, we only spent one night in room 1005. We changed rooms and both rooms were spotless.

This worries me. We have a ten night stay coming. I'm wondering if I should just change to SSR, which I know we like. It's a no park trip. I've also heard about construction.
DVC members since 1993. We have never had an issue at the BWV's, our first stay was 3 months after they opened. I know that stuff happens. Three years ago we finally got our room assignment at 6:45 PM at BLT, only to enter a room that was still occupied. Bottom line...please don't stress about something that may not happen.

I have enjoyed reading your posts over the years, your knowledge of WDW has been most helpful. I am sorry to hear that you no longer are able to visit. Thank you for all the information you have shared with all of us.

What a kind thing to say. You just made this old lady very happy. I have "met" the nicest people on the DIS boards. Thank you, Halle.

Just stayed at BWV in November, didn't have any problems. I wouldn't worry about BWV it is a fine resort and the location is fabulous.

Hopefully Management will get things on track.
We stayed there once, and liked the restaurants, the Boardwalk, and walking to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
It is a great location, and the area has so much to offer.
My daughter liked the clown pool slide.

My concern is that the new management is the reason that BWV is falling off the track. The prior manager who was from AKV/AKV seemed to really care and was working to make changes and improvements.

Maybe he/she went over budget and had to be replaced. It's possible.

For the life of me i can not understand any resort that would reduce the level of holiday decorations for any reason. My wife and i specifically take an adults only trip yearly in December for 3 nights to simply check out the holiday decor in the resorts and the parks....I am pretty sure there are a ton of folks who do this exact thing as well

Disney is always looking for a way to save a buck plus they have standards and policies that are constantly changing. The different resorts may be told what they are allowed to do or it my be decided for them. Could be a budget issue or an idea the went wrong. We see changes each year, some good, some not our favorite.

We've also had issues the last couple years with BWV! This Christmas was the first time we did not switch to BWV in the middle of our stay (AKV Jambo the whole time instead!) We've had similar issues with room requests and even got a first floor non-refurbished/neglected room last year :/

I received a follow up call from member services this afternoon. Unfortunately I was working and could not take the call. Her message stated my concerns will be forwarded to management, left her number if I wish to call back. I feel my e-mail had everything that needed to be said. Let's hope some changes will happen. We hope soon Boardwalk will again be our favorite resort.
