Standing Here in line for the candlelight prosessional on our 18th anniversary. Checked in at 8am and still have no room. This means no jacket as they are in our luggage. This is by far the worst dvc experience ever. Really hating boardwalk right now. We've notified management and hoping things are less chaotic after illumination. Surely we will have a room and apology by 10pm. Right?

Wow, what a bad start to a vacation. You know you could have accessed your luggage while it is in bell services, right? I'm not saying that as a snarky comment, but some people might not know they can get to their bags while they are waiting for a room.

Still, even if you had, it's a pain to open bags in their baggage storage area and try to find something and then get things back in the bag.

I can't imagine what kind of circumstance would have them not giving you a room until so late.

Did you leave your cell phone # for them to call or text you when the room is ready? Or do you keep calling them? What time were you last at the front desk?

i went through the same thing a few years ago my family and i checked in right around the same time we were suppose to have a two bed boardwalk view still waiting for that one.Instead they gave us a pool view told us this is a preferred view yeah right.Well things only got worse from there the second day i was there the toilet overflowed and the day after that the blow dryer caught fire.

My daughter was down there in October for the food and wine festival when she called seven months out to book beach club or boardwalk for the convenience of walking over to Epcot she was told it was booked solid but when she got there she found out there was a convention going on and guest of the convention were staying on dvc property i forgot should we have first pick and also a friend of hers book boardwalk a week before she left in October and she paid cash for a one bedroom. This was the second call to dvc that we have placed to complain but we were told we are sorry there is nothing we can do for you. That's bs.I hope that you get a room and it better be a good one but i would call and complain

wow that is really bad - the latest that I ever waited was at OKW - 6:30pm and that was bad enough - so sorry this is happening to you.

Happy Anniversary!
Here's hoping for a great view and room when you get checked in later.

Not all rooms in a DVC resort are available for points. DVC itself owns some points and rents them through CRO. When a member trades out, a room goes to CRO for the general public to pay for the members trade. So there could be rooms through CRO but not available for points.

That is ridiculous, starbox! I don't agree with those who are always looking for a handout for every little snafu, but you absolutely should be offered compensation if your room is still not available at 7:00. Please post back with any info you get about why this happened. Hopefully BWV management will be totally apologetic and forthcoming with something to offset your inconvenience. 50° in WDW feels very cold. I would not be able to stand CP in that temperature without a coat. Hope the rest of your trip is so magical that it makes up for this bad start.

Leaving your cell number doesn't always work out, I left mine at POFQ 2 weeks ago to be sent a text when the room was ready, I called the number I was given to check on the room 3 times and told it wasn't ready, finally went back to the front desk and was told it "had been ready", I got the text saying what room I had been assigned and that it was ready TWO days after I had been there! By then we were on our last day there and packing to move to the Poly for our split stay!

Sounds somewhat similar to a visit we had a OKW once. We checked in around 7:30 or 8AM. Did the parks, came back around 3 to see if our villa was ready. Not yet. Waited in Papa's Den until 4 and checked again. Still not ready. We finally got in at almost 6PM. The people who were in our villa had failed to vacate the villa and had gone to the parks. When they returned, management asked them to leave so they finally did around 4:30. They left the villa a total mess and the housekeepers had to clean it up.

Hope you get your villa soon. Hope there isn't a maintenance issue with your villa.

Preferred view @ BWV IS pool or garden, so that was a true statement whether you agreed with it or not. And as Deb said, not all rooms @ DVC locations are available for stays on points. You should know the facts and policies before you complain about them.

Starbox - sorry about your issue - hope they get it fixed very quickly!

I agree with PP, this does not alway work. Last week at AKL-CL, we were waiting in the CL lounge @13:00 and the CL-CM asked if we were waiting for our room, we said yes. She checked with mousekeeping and found that the room had been ready for one hour.
We got our stuff and went to the room for our afternoon break. Two hours later (@15:00) we get the text saying the room was ready.
When I called the front desk, informing them that we had been in the room for a couple of hours already, they stated that the computer system shows the room became available @14:45.
So, OP my suggestion keep checking with the front desk and make your complaint in person to mgmt.

Wow...it's going on 10 pm now!
Here's hoping that you have that room and apology by now pixiedust:

I am ready to let them sleep on our 1 br sofa, if nothing works out! We are at BW in a 1 br right now.

Bummer! Hopefully we will hear the outcome. But if we don't, I'll assume, that everything did work out. Once before DVC, we changed rooms at Caribbean Beach, the new room was not ready so we drove to Naples Fl to see a new grandbaby. Got back to Caribbean Beach to not having a room. We camped out in the lobby for about an hour, waiting for them to find something (this was before cell phones and we had to check at the front desk to get the room number) They found us a room, exactly what we had requested, reserved and were told we had. In the end, it sounded really, really fishy to me after I though about it. So they really wern't sold out as they told me, Perhaps this is the case today??? At the very least, there should be rooms or rooms at the Boardwalk Inn, Another DVC resort, Or a Deluxe Resort? ... and a refund for the points for tonight... :scared1::hippie:

That's what I was thinking - maybe it has been ready they were just not notified. That's why I asked if they called the front desk.

This happened to us once. We checked in around 2pm and kept checking every 2 hours or so and each time were told (rather curtly as I recall) that our room was not yet ready. Finally at 8pm a very helpful CM investigated and discovered that Mousekeeping did not have our room on their cleaning schedule for that day. They dispatched a cleaning crew and we got the room an hour later.

The "send a text" thing really doesn't work and it's not all their fault. When we checked into BLT last January, we did the text thing and didn't get the text until 11 PM when I was sitting in our room. The CM's text you when the room is ready, but it's slow getting out of their system and then it takes forever to go through your provider. I had Sprint at that point and a ton of texts from people took forever to get to me while I was in the parks.

This past December, I asked BWV to call instead of text. They called around 4 PM. It was a recorded message and I was very happy about it.

I can also tell you I usually don't do luggage with ME. It's not that hard to pick up the luggage and check it at the bus and then with bell services. ME sounds like a great idea but I like being able to at least have access to the luggage between getting there and getting my room. I may change my mind on our next trip since there will be 6 of us and the luggage can add up.

We are in our room!

Here is the whole nightmare story. We were in a studio all weekend, checked into a 1 bedroom this morning, stored our luggage. The plan was, hit Epcot. I know it's the holiday, they are busy. Expected the room 3 or 4 realistically. They were supposed to text. At 5, I was like surely they just forgot to text, let's go ask what the room number is, drop off the wine we bought, get coats. We go back - front desk checks says uh oh, room is not clear. Maybe they just forgot to release it, they call someone to check on it. 15 minutes later -still no word. We had CP dinner reservations and had to go, so we said we'll come back after dinner and they say room will be ready. Try to go back in Epcot, DH gets stopped because he's carrying wine. That we could not put in the room. And just brought out. They confiscate it. We run to our dining reservations. Afterwards, go back for coats. Another 15 minutes, desk says uh-oh, no room. They say we can get your luggage, but by now, we have to go back or we will miss the 8:15 CP. We ask to see management when we return.

10:30 and we get a room. The manager was nasty at first - she said the room was ready and that we should have been told it was ready. :headache: Seriously? We were totally cool for a very long time. Came in person twice - both times after the guarunteed room ready time.

Got to the room. No apology on the phone. DH went down to talk to the manager and explain the whole crazy story. She did apologize and they are going to return the points for tonight, which I am really glad about. I was beginning to feel like DVC members got no respect at all! So, it all did work out. :goodvibes. But let me tell you - it was NOT GOOD from 5-10pm!
