I know there's a thread on it, but not sure the questions can be answered there:

1. There looks like there's alot of different buildings - is that the case? or that's just the outside and inside is just one large hotel?

2. We would likely stay in a club level. Is this level of rooms in a particular 'building'? <When I say building, when looking at the resort overview photo on Disney, the building on the bottom right that appears to say "Rolls" and then the buildings seem to stretch all the way to the left past the lit up dock to a building that looks white. Is that whole building Boardwalk Inn?

TIA!

Yes that picture is all Boardwalk Inn. It's just the exterior façade that's made to look like separate buildings. The inside is connected by seemingly endless hallways!
The club level rooms are behind that far side in the photo (around Flying Fish) and also the cottages have club level access.

Yes, exactly as ShirikiUtundu says. One gigantic building connected by a maze of hallways! Actually, when you look at the photo, you are seeing the Boardwalk Villas in the foreground from "Rolls" (which is Jellyrolls) to the boat dock. After the boat dock, you get to the Boardwalk Inn portion of the resort (the white building in the back of the photo where you see the Flying Fish neon sign). All of the Club Level rooms will be on the 4th floor, close to the club lounge, whereas the cottages are past the BWI elevators and down the stairs on the first floor level.

Thank you both - the size is pretty intimidating. I'm assuming there's quite a number of exits/entrances to the building so not everyone is walking toward the same exit/entrance?

How does the size of Boardwalk compare to just say the Polynesian? Looking online the Poly looked huge, but once there it wasnt that bad and everything seemed to be pretty close walking distance wise.

There are many exits, all the floor have stairways for those inclined and the longest hallways you've ever seen. Think REDRUM. There are elevators located throughout so you don't have to aimlessly wander up and down the REDRUM hallways to get out (unless you are me and get lost). Hard to compare to the Poly since there are many separate buildings there (with just as much getting lost opportunity if you are me). It's not really that bad, I normally take the stairs because I like to get the exercise, they tend to be closer to whatever room I'm in most of the time and I have a thing about getting trapped in an elevator.

LOL @ redrum. Yeah I'm not a fan of hallways esp long ones =(

Don't find it any worse/different than any other Deluxe.
While some are 1 building, like BWI or AKL, and others are separate like Poly or GF.
They are all large footprints and you can either be really close or really far from the main area/bus stops, etc. Just depends on where your room ends up. The furthest buildings at GF are not a signifincally longer walk from the bus stop than the end of the hall at BWI. At least with BWI you are all indoors
I found it all works out to be about the same in the end

If you are staying club level, you have actually already limited some of the hallway walking! You will take an elevator to the 4th floor and head down a fairly short hallway to the club level desk where the door to access the club level area is located. All the rooms (other than the cottages) are located in that one area, along with the lounge, on the 4th floor so it's pretty consolidated. I've, personally, never gotten lost at BWI or BWV. BC is a whole other matter for me! I actually couldn't find the lobby on our last trip!

In terms of the difference between Poly and BWI, I would say the distance is about the same, it's just probably easier to navigate at Poly because once you are out of the longhouse, you can literally see where the GCH, pool, etc. are. At BWI, I just have to keep looking at the signs on the wall to know where I'm going. And, as others have said, there are staircases as well, which we use quite a bit to get directly down to the first floor without having to walk through the hallways to get to the elevator.

I've stayed at many Disney resorts at all levels, and the only one I found confusing was the Boardwalk. We were in one of the cottages and I had to basically be linked to my non-directionally challenged husband for the entire 5 days because otherwise I would have been lost.

YMMV of course...I could probably get lost in my own backyard. I loved the Boardwalk and the club lounge was very nice, but I'm hesitant to return because of the layout.

It's all one building, but not all the Boardwalk Inn. From Jelly Rolls to about the boat dock where the boat to DHS and Epcot dock will be the Boardwalk Villas (not the Boardwalk Inn). From the boat dock to end furthest away would be the Boardwalk Inn. The Villas are DVC villas. The Inn is hotel rooms. There are multiple fingers to the building, so the villas will have several wings, as will the inn. There are no concierge (club level) rooms in the villas section of the resort.

Along the Boardwalk at ground level will be dining, entertainment and shopping. Hotel rooms and villas are above them.

We did not mind the location of the BWI CL rooms. We had a room outside the club door, so our room was not that far from the elevator. I did not find the BWI to be too large, we found it easy to get around.
