So, I know this is a long way away.. but I've been dreaming all day today at work about taking a trip to WDW and staying in a *gasp* DELUXE RESORT for the first time! man oh man, how I'd love to finally be able to stay at one of them... and I think my choice would be between The Boardwalk Inn or the Wilderness Lodge... here's some background info though before you tell me which one is the best:

BOARDWALK INN:

1. I just got married at the Boardwalk, so there is obviously some sentimental value there. I'd love to go to Seabreeze point with my hubby and remember our magical day.
2. I love the theming of the resort. That old fashioned 20's feel.. the shops and restaurants on the boardwalk.. the DANCE hall! the only thing is I think I WOULDN'T like the decor of the rooms. I've seen pics and I dunno.. it's so .. busy.
3. My favorite theme park is Epcot. Oh to wake up and walk to epcot and have pastry and cappucino in France! I'd love to stay at the Boardwalk during the food and wine fest as well.

WILDERNESS LODGE:

1. I've never been there but the pictures I've seen of it blow me away! It looks so gorgeous and I love the theming of it and imagine that it would really make a person feel like they were in the moutains and not at walt disney world.
2. My husband is a big nature buff. I think this resort would be the most appealing to him.
3. This resort seems like it would be the most romantic out of the two.

Ok... give me your opinons.

if you had to choose..which of these two resorts would you stay at and why?

ready................

GO!

I would stay at the BWI. I love that area. I love being about to WALK to Epcot and MGM. I like that theres no much dining and theatmosphere is very cool. The staff at the BWI especailly the concierge is really top notch.

I love the WL and have stayed there but if I had to choose I would choose the BWI.

How long are you going for? If you are going for a week why not go to both? :confused3

We are Disney Vacation Members and both places have vacation clubs so we have stayed at both.

BW is a very nice place for the proximity of Epcot and the atmosphere is great. We just stayed there for our October trip for the food and wine festival. It was great.

Our next trip in December we are staying at FW. It is very nice and very outdoorzie (is that a word?). We love walking the path that goes to the campground to see the animals. I read somewhere that there are just ponies and horses there now, no goats. Plus the proximity to the Magic Kingdom can't be beat.

So if you could I would do both, it really isn't hard to change rooms. We always rent a car but I do believe they will transfer your bags for you.

Good luck and have fun dreaming about your next trip. Part of the fun of a trip is the planning.

I love them both but I think you answered your question, you intend to spend a lot of time at Epcot, so stay at BW. We stayed at YC this time for that reason. Next trip is mainly MK so we are staying at our other favorite, WL.

Just as was mentioned above, if your vacation at WDW is long enough, do a split stay at BWI and WL. I too own DVC at both resorts, and they're both great, in their own ways.

It's great taking the boat from the WL to the MK. It's also great walking from the BWI into Epcot.

WL has fabulous theming!

Having stayed at both (BWI twice, honeymooned at WL), I'd choose BWI. No hesitation.

We have stayed at both several times. We love the WL (we always go in December and it is extra special then), but you can't beat the BWI for location. Since we spend more time at Epcot at night, we love just walking back to our room after Illuminations. My DH especially loves WL (it is is favorite as far as theme/looks go), but he now wants to only stay at BWI because of the location.

Wanted to add that even staying at BWI, we always go over to WL once of twice during our trip - for fishing and for Artist Point (Yum!)

We love both. Married at SBP also so we stayed at the BWI in the garden suites, wonderful!

The theme at WL is awesome, it was the first deluxe I ever stayed at and it is very romantic.

Stay both if possible or pick one and then another on another trip.

It depends on how much you are going to want to go to the other parks & downtown Disney. Along with are you renting a car.
We stayed at Boardwalk in early Oct. Walking to Epcot was great, the resort is small and the boardwalk was fun at night. My major complaint was transportation. We shared the magic express bus with 3 other resorts, more time to get from the airport to the fun. The bus to MK, AK, and DTD all are shared with the Swan & Dolphin. 3 stops for each bus ride either there or on the ride home from the park. Again more time not at the resort or at the park. It sounds like Boardwalk is where your heart is, so maybe start at Wilderness Lodge and move to Boardwalk, or vice versa.

Out of your two choices, I would choose BW. I love that area too. My favorite resort in that area is BC. The theming is light and airy and the rooms are wonderful. It is the closest resort to the gateway to Epcot. We stayed in the closest room to the gateway in June and it was wonderful! You could open the sliding glass door and hear the music from Epcot all day! If you stayed at the BC, you could go to the BW and reminisce and be close to Epcot but still be staying in a great room! Everyone at BC was so nice. Two of the best parts of BC are the character breakfast at Cape May and seeing Art every day. He is wonderful!! Every chance we get, we will be staying in the Epcot area just for convenience. That is the ultimate!

WL if you can get it, but really they both are great and offer a different atmosphere, so whatever fits your needs. You cant go wrong with either.

I've never stayed at the BWI (although I'd like to) but I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge has a beautiful lobby. It has beautiful theming. It has a nice pool. That said, I didn't think it was otherwise anything special. The room was adequate and there was a strange smell in the hallway. If Epcot is your favorite park, stay near Epcot, especially since it sounds like you've been to BWI and like it.

The WL is is beautiful, the lobby is breathtaking and the theming is wonderful. That being said, I'd choose BWI because it is my family's favorite! We love the ambiance, the rooms are pretty and quite spacious, and the location is the best. We love to walk in and out of Epcot -- no buses to wait for, no car to look for, etc. As we casually stroll out of the WS exit we think of all the people making the mad dash for the front gates after Illuminations.

I think they are both beautiful in their own way, but if it was up to me - I would choose the BWI. It is so close to Epcot, you can just pop over there for a nice dinner then use the transportation to another park if you want.

The WL isn't as pricey, and it is lovely too. Not to mention cheaper in the grand schedme of things. So, if price if a mediating factor, the WL might be a better choice. The transportation to/from Epcot wasn't as bad as we thought. Just a short bus ride to TTC.

Good luck with your choice and planning!! :thumbsup2

BWI definitely. It's so convenient to so many options. Plus, the WL rooms are too small, IMO. DH and I were constantly bumping into each other -- and we're not large people.
