DH, DS, and I will be staying at Boardwalk October 22 - 29 - any tips or advice that you can give?

I'm leaving for the Boardwalk tomorrow so I'll let you know when I get back! (Just send me a PM to remind me!) Are you staying at the Inn or Villas?

We love the Boardwalk. I always ask for a room with a view of Epcot and definitely not on the parking lot/valet side of the building. Try to get a room a few floors up for the better views.
We always make sure we have sweet rolls at the Boardwalk Bakery at least one morning. Beaches and Cream is a short walk over to the BC and they have the best ice cream.
They serve coffee in the bar area in the morning but it isn't the greatest coffee in the world as is the case with most of WDW. We go to the Kona Cafe at the Poly one of our first mornings and buy their wonderful kona coffee to make fresh coffee in the room each morning (or bring some favorite coffee from home with you). I understand that either the Dolphin or Swan has a Starbucks now so that is a possibility also.
The walk around the Boardwalk and into Epcot is one of the prettiest in all of WDW. We never tire of it. The Flying Fish is a great restaurant and we don't care for the food at ESPN. I hear Fresh is very good though.
You can't go wrong at the Boardwalk Inn. Have a ball.

One tip I can give is to try the breakfast at Spoodles, a few doors away from the Boardwalk Inn. All their food is very good, especially their breakfast pizza/flat bread. It is a really nice and quiet way to start your day.

We love the BW, have stayed there many times. I see you have a little one. The pool area has a great kiddie pool with an elephant that sprays water. And a playground right next to the kiddie pool with a few smaller things to play on.

You are within walking distance of Epcot and MGM. But if you don't want to walk both are easy to get to by boat.

As other posters have already mentioned, there are plenty of great restaurants.

You'll have a great time.

I don't have any info on BW, but I just wanted to say that they picture you have posted of your DS is ADORABLE!! :lovestruc

I understand that either the Dolphin or Swan has a Starbucks now so that is a possibility also.

Note that this is a 'proudly serve' location ie NOT a Starbucks, but they do brew Starbucks coffee.

The BW can be quite a long walk if you at a a far end, but enjoy the walk! it's my favourite resort, and a splurge when I can afford it. I like all the nooks and crannies to sit and have a quiet moment. The garden at the Inn side is beautiful, walking amongst the 'cottages' in the morning when nobody is around.

I also walk to both Epcot and MGM from this resort, it's a nice walk and not too long (hey, you'll be walking a LOT more during your visit - what's a few more steps)

There is great entertainment along the boardwalk at night, such as the balloon guy. It's worth a wander to enjoy life outside the parks.

I am a DVC member and have stayed there many times. ESPN is fun to watch football or World Series that time of year (I think the food is good for pub style food). Definately go to JellyRolls for the dueling piano bar it is alot of fun. Spoodles breakfast is great. You will be there during Food and Wine festival and will enjoy the proximity to EPCOT. Enjoy

Does anyone know if you have to pay a cover charge to go to JellyRolls...also this is a bar, right? So I'm guessing no kids allowed?

for an adults night only look into the boardwalk kids club (harbour club) offered 4pm-midnight. the boardwalk is one of our favorite resorts with the nostalgic vibe, fun entertainment & nearby epcot and mgm. we love the friendship boats its so nice on the water & an easy way to go back to the resort for a swim or nap from epcot/mgm.

jellyrolls is a sing along bar. normally the cover is $5 & you must be 18 to enter.

Hope you have a ball-
Take a ride on the Surrey bikes- watch the hill between BW & BC!!
Have a great time! :teeth:

Check out the entertainment in the evening along the boardwalk. There was a man doing magic that my kids really enjoyed. We were there at Christmas, and they had choirs there singing on the lawn in front of the resort (but I think that may have been a Christmas only thing).

I dream about the breakfast buritto and sticky buns at Boardwalk Bakery! YUM!

Oh yeah! I don't know which is more fun....watching others trying to pedal up that hill.....or doing it yourself!!!!

I second all the above in reference to the night time activity. We enjoyed Beaches & Cream when we were there, and the evening walks on a cool night was a nice way to end a day at the parks, and to mellow-out the little ones.

You can have the surreys. LOL :wave2:

I know which is more fun.......watching others - never again. :rotfl:

If I had $5 for every time my dh has pushed some group up that hill on their surrey bike, we could have paid for a week at BW!!!! There's always someone gasping for air at that point. But, after he did it with our dd, he has all new understanding of WDW's version of "Heartbreak Hill"!!!

As far as the Harbor CLub goes, it isn't open anymore. It did open for a short time to fill in for the Sandcastle Club. But once that club reopened, the Harbor Club closed again. So, if you want that adults night out, send the kids over to the BC and use Sandcastle Club while you go out and party!!! It's a short walk, so no big deal.

I don't think any of us laughed any harder on our trip than when we were on that surrey bike! :rotfl2: My DH was like a crazy cab driver, kids were shrieking, I had tears streaming down my face. It was the last thing we did before heading to the airport and we actually made it up that hill 3 times! I tell ya, we were really cruising! :moped:

Love the BW and the whole Epcot resort area. We liked the Poly but won't go back, we'd miss the atmosphere of the BW area. BWI is a great resort.
