Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could comment on whether they prefer the Boardwalk's hotel side or DVC side? I can't decide if I should purchase a room or rent DVC points. Are there any major differences in the rooms, service, room location etc. I should know about? I'd really like to save money so I think renting the points would be better but I'd love to hear from anyone who would care to share your opinions and experiences.

Thanks, friends :)

The biggest difference is that a regular room will provide you with two queen beds and a single couch bed (in most rooms, I believe) but the DVC side is one queen bed, a queen-sized pull out couch and a single murphy bed. So, it really depends on how many people you've got in your room as to whether one will be more comfortable than the other. Also, DVC does not get mousekeeping each day, it's only every so many days. DVC has a small kitchenette as well, which can be nice if you use it. For comfort alone, I prefer the regular rooms. The couch beds on the DVC side are just too uncomfortable for most adults to sleep on for any extended amount of time, IMO.

When do you plan on going on your trip? If it is less than 11 months from now, you might not have many options for getting a villa by renting points. Especially if it is during the busier times for DVC, mid-Sept through mid-Jan, holidays, RunDisney events. Summer is not too bad.

The studio has one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa, plus the bunk sized murphy bed. The one bedroom has one king bed and one queen sleeper sofa. DVC doesn't get daily housekeeping if you are staying on points. If you book with cash through Disney (not on points), you get a daily full cleaning, just like the hotel side.

The thing I like about the sleeper sofa in the DVC rooms is you can watch TV from it. I know that seems silly but we do like to watch a little tv before bed. The daybeds in the regular room doesn't allow that flexibilty. Plus I'm not the one sleeping on the sleeper sofa so it's not a big deal. It's fine for skinny teens.

It is always worth mentioning that if you are pricing a DVC rental and have your eye on that BWV Standard, those are extremely hard to get most of the year. As a renter, you are likely to need to pay for Pool/Garden, which is more expensive.
