My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary at Disney World in November and would like to stay at the Boardwalk Villas or the Boardwalk Honeymoon Cottages. We would like a quiet room. Has anyone stayed at either of these places and do you have an opinion? THe Honeymoon Cottages are fairly spendy. Are they worth the price? Thanks for your thoughts.

The Cottages are very nice! They are very, very quiet. They share a private courtyard/garden area and each ground floor unit has it's own walkway and wild garden. They have little mailboxes, gates, and arbors at the entry to the private yard/garden. There is a very private pool for the cottages as well. I would imagine it to be wonderful place for a special stay. It is not unusual to see bridal couples having photos taken there. In addition to the privacy, beautiful grounds and white theme, there is a sweeping staircase to the main portion of the hotel proper.

My sister had a cottage for a night after her Disney Wedding! It was very quiet and nice. The one she stayed in was a 2-story unit. The 1st floor had a couch & TV and upstairs was the bedroom and large bathroom. Each one has its own special garden, no two are the same.

Tough call. The cottages do look beautiful and romantic. However, the one-bedroom at BWV is also very, very nice and I think you actually get more amenities than in the cottages (jacuzzi, full kitchen, 2 TV's, washer/dryer). If there is a substantial price difference, I think the BWV is the better value and can certainly be quite romantic as well.

I totally agree with PamOKW. The 1 bedroom villas are a much better deal IMHO. I visited my niece and her son in one of the cottages and they are very nice but I much prefer the villas.

josierac,

WOW! Great photos! Tell me where those "courtyard" shots were taken. How did I miss that area of the resort???

kjbstore,
The gardens are really pretty in those pictures, however I think the plantings may depend on the time of year.
We stayed in a Boardwalk Inn room in Nov/Dec several years ago.
That room overlooked the garden rooms, and unfortunately, during that time of year there were no flowers. Only greenery.
So although the rooms still looked special, they weren't as "pretty".
I think a room at OKW would be the best for romance. (If you don't mind being away from the Boardwalk area.)
The one bedrooms are spacious, have a full kitchen, a double jacuzzi and a nice porch overlooking well lanscaped grounds. IMO it is perfect for romance!
I have stayed in the Boardwalks one bedroom rooms several times and love them also, however, my vote for OKW comes because the rooms are more spacious, private and have the double jacuzzi!

By the way, WELCOME to the Dis Boards! :D

Tell me where those "courtyard" shots were taken

You have to get to the "courtyard" side of the Inn (vs. the BWV side). If you walk into the BWI side from the lobby, keep going down the hall and you'll find a door leading to an outdoor staircase. This will take you out the area shown in the pictures. It is very beautiful and has a lovely pool as well. It's hard to believe that just the other side of the wall is all the hustle & bustle of the Boardwalk itself.

One word of caution! We stayed in a regular room at BWI that was right above those garden suites and during our stay the gardens did NOT look so good. There were no flowers or roses, and the grass looked kinda brown and gross. There are probably only certain times of the year when those gardens look nice. I don't think those rooms are worth the price... I'd go with a 1 bedroom villa at either BWV's or BCV's. :D

Another word of caution here....We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn this past April/May and absolutely love "our" resort. In fact we love both sides, the Villas and the Inn and. have stayed in both several times. On our last stay we had a tour of the "Garden Suites" and for my taste I personally prefer even a standard room with a great balcony. These rooms are very pricey and as a couple of posters have said, a 1 bedroom at the Villas with a jacuzzi and all the room that the 1brm has , it beats the cottages in every way.Our room rate at the Inn was soo good with one of the codes that we could not justify spending the extra money on the 1 brm even though it is our favorite accomadation at WDW. It would have cost us $2000 more than our standard room at the Inn{11 nights}. The "Garden Cottages" are quite a bit more than the 1 brm so my choice would be get a pretty one bedroom villa and take some of the money you saved for a couples massage at the GF and then have a terrific dinner at the Flying Fish,a romantic stroll on the Boardwalk and top off the night with a glass of champagne on your balcony!

I've looked at both the Garden Suites and the 1-bedroom DVC units, and while the gardens in front of the Garden Suites are cute, the amenities are nowhere near as nice as those in the 1-bedroom units (as several others have pointed out). The Garden Suites are basically equivalent to a DVC studio, but arranged differently (bed is upstairs in a loft area).

I don't think the Garden Suites are worth the money, unfortunately.
