boardwalk extension

no.

OKW is the only case where extending the end date was attempted and it failed spectacularly.

if they did offer an extension for BWV owners, it will likely be priced higher than would make any logical sense. but due to the OKW debacle, i doubt that they will extend BWV...

And if they do extend, my guess it will be closer to the end date. As an OKW owner, I couldn't see paying now for something that I wouldn't use for over 30 years (at which point I probably wouldn't be around anyway).

I'd bet they try a different approach the they did with OKW if they offer an extension. IMO that's likely to take one of 2 general forms, either tied to a new retail purchase and/or late in the game, say within 10 years or less.

Maybe with a free "transfer option" only at entension time that would allow immediate transfer to future heirs? I wonder if they ever thought about something like that?

Why wouldn't they just tear the resort down and build something new to sell at some huge direct price.

The mistake Disney made was making too many resorts all have the same end date. It stops them from staggering the tear down and rebuild of the resorts. If the resorts were better spread out with end dates they could tear down one, rebuild and sell it out before starting on the next resort.

Anyone know why those first resorts all have the same end date?

I'm sure they have discussed many options and the failure of the OKW extension has backed them into a corner somewhat. They have to be careful that they don't put themselves into a situation where those that extended OKW, AND those that didn't, aren't overly upset.

That's certainly an option but to start over would require a major cash commitment and assumes the concept is still viable in 30 years, a major risk in my book. It also assumes there will be sufficient numbers of members of the club ongoing to make the management feasible, also a risk. Ideally would be to get them back on a common or similar expiration so they could get out at some point if they desired. One option I don't see as workable is to let it expire and sell the same resort for another 18-20 years or so.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. My DH insisted we extend at OKW, I wouldn't have chosen that. Our other points are BWV, and I'm glad we haven't had to make any decisions about those points.
