Looking at accommodation options for 18/9-24/9...

Swan/Dolphin are favorite choice at the moment - struggling to get a 'great deal' though... Carribean Beach, Boardwalk, Beach Club are all possibles. I would like to be near Epcot and the Boardwalk. Is it possible to walk from the CBR to the International Gateway?

It's a fair distance from the CBR to Epcot area, I'd guess about one kilometre. There are no sidewalks/pavements for most of it, while in theory it is possible to walk that journey to all practical purposes it isn't a viable option.
Have yoiu tried "Dreams" for a deal on the S+D they seem to have a good relationship with those hotels and get some good rates?

For access to Epcot the Boarwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin can't be beaten. I was amazed at how near the International Gateway entrance was the first time we stayed in this area.

As Vernon says, WDW just doesn't seem to be made for pedestrians and I think you'd have a tough job walking from CBR even if the distance wasn't a problem.

Wow, $250 a night seems a ridiculous rate for that time of year. I would have to consider seriously other accomodation unless a better deal turned up. I looked on hotwire for your dates and found a four and a half star "Spa resort" in the WDW "area" for $76 a night. I know it's nice to stay on site, but for a saving of $1100 for 6 nights I'd have a lot of trouble justifying it.

I think the rate you have been quoted may be the full rate - because your travel dates are quite a long way ahead, any special rates may not have been announced by those resorts yet.

A long way ahead? It's only two weeks away!!? :bounce: :bounce:

I want to be able to have a meal, a drink or two and not worry about transport back to my hotel... Epcot resorts look ideal. I already have a few nights earlier in the holiday in Downtown Disney, but I have never visited the Boardwalk - guess I have set my heart (and soon my wallet as well) on it...

If you're saving $180 a night ( plus tax) a taxi at $10 looks a viable option. I know it's nice to be able to just stroll back to your hotel in a couple of minutes but for the 10 minutes it would take, I'd take the small inconvenience and pocket the cash :D. With such a short time to go it looks like your choices are go with your heart and kiss $1100 goodbye, or allow an extra 30 minutes each day for travelling and put whats left, when you take about $150 off the total for taxis, towards some nice meals/treats/. I'm not sure I could find it in myself to enjoy the stay at an Epcot resort when I knew how much extra it had cost me.

<thud> Thank yor for bringing me back down to earth!

Very true... very true indeed...

I have used priceline and so far have come in way, way under budget. Just got Renaissance SeaWorld (long time since I stayed on I-Drive, has it changed much!!?!!) for £50/night.

I know I can get the Wyndham Resort in DD - but for the same money I could stay at CBR. Which one (or another?) would you spend your hard earned cash?

P.S.
Would you care to come round and use your fiscal logic on my GF? It could save me thousands! (on the Next Directory alone!)

Have you checked out Mousesavers?

It may be worth you phoning CRO and asking for AP rates for your dates for the Epcot area hotels. If there are any available, you only need to buy one AP to take advantage.

Or what about trying the DVC forums and seeing if anyone wants to sell availability at BW or BCV.
