DH and I decided to take the family to Disney at Christmas again this year :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Just recently learned we can rent the DVC which is VERY attractive to us over the small rooms for our family of 5. However it looks like all of them I look at say book out 7 to 11 months -- Is it possible for us to rent points from a member just 4 months from now?

It is possible depending on where you want to stay and if you are willing to move between resorts if needed. Shorter stays are always easier and SSR will be easier than most of the others.

It's going to be very difficult to get Boardwalk now. December is very popular.

You may be able to get Saratoga Springs.

You won't be able to get BWV or any of the near park DVC resorts (BLT, VWL, VGF, BCV or BWV) unless you find someone to rent to you well before 7 months prior to arrival.

If your stay includes NYE, you'll need to get an owner to book for you 11 months in advance, preferably as soon as the window opens at 8 am Eastern

Doesn't hurt to try even now, though, especially if you are interested in a 1 bedroom and willing to consider moving between resorts during your stay.

You can watch the Rent/Trade board here on the DIS. Members can pay a fee to post already-made reservations this far out. The dates/room size/resort would not be flexible; you would probably need to rent the reservation exactly as is. It is worth a shot.

yeah, december is the busiest time of year for DVC bookings...most reservations were probably made back in january.

it can be hard to book that early since DVC rentals are also non-refundable if you cancel, but that is why renting doesn't work for everyone even if the prices are great.
