What is the best restaurant on the Boardwalk for a family with younger children / what is the worst?? Never been and trying to plan - Thanks!

We like the ESPN Club. The food is basic and it's noisy and lot's of TV's to look at. I think it would be great for kids.

i would like to hear a review of all the offerings on the boardwalk also...isn't there some sort of bakery or something?

We've taken our DD to the brewpub there several times. Its nice, especially if you eat outside. We have also taken her to Spoodles and enjoyed that. All the restaurants have the standard kid menu. I've never eaten at the bakery. We have gotten ice cream and its good.

I think that Flying Fish is a little more upscale, and I would not bring personally bring *my* child there, just because I would not enjoy my dinner. She does very well at restaurants in general, but after a Disney day, you never know when a meltdown is imminent. :rotfl:

If you're staying at the Boardwalk, its also a very short, pleasant walk to the Beach Club (Beaches&Cream and Cape May) or into Epcot. We often walk into Epcot just for dinner.

Hi Lorelai,

We don't believe there is a "worst " place to eat on the Boardwalk (have eaten at all of them), or anywhere around the lake for that matter. The Bakery is great for pastries and such, but is take-out only. Poster egoldber has good advice. Also, checkout the menus at allearsnet.com.

Have a great trip!! Peg and Bob

Thanks for all of the replies!

Just to clarify, I didn't mean "worst" as in food, I meant "worst" as in perhaps not the right place to take children. Like, for example, Victoria & Alberts might not be the right atmosphere for toddlers.

I realize that it's Disney, and totally geared toward being "kid friendly", but it seems like some restaurants have a busier feel which just makes us feel more comfortable when the kids are being a little fidgety or loud. And we've never been to the Boardwalk before, so I'd like to go informed.

Thanks again! :goodvibes

All of the restaurants should be fine with a young child. My favorite restaurant is Spoodles. We had an early seating our last visit, and the wait staff was wonderful with my DS. He had a ball. He even got to watch his pizza being made. DH and I enjoy the mediterranean twist to the food. I absolutely loved the dips. Yum....

We enjoy the prices at ESPN, for some reason the don't seem Disney? The kids like it too - 7 and 9. Fries are good. Usually not a great place for conversation.

As adults we enjoy spoodles, I guess the kids do too, but they would rather be watching tv!

Boardwalk options:

Flying Fish - upscale. I wouldn't take my toddlers there. We are going there this year, our youngest is six and may yet end up over in the kids club.

Spoodles - Casual sit down Medditerrian and tapas. A good moderate casual family restaurant

ESPN - A sports bar. Haven't been, I don't find TV and food to really go together.

Big River Brewing Co (or whatever its called). A fairly small restaurant. A lot of people have panned its food. Haven't been myself.

At the Y&BC (walking distance)

Beaches and Cream - a hamburger and ice cream joint. Very small restauant, doesn't take PSs, so time a visit in the off hours to avoid a long wait.

Cape May Clambake - A seafood buffet, I'm not big on buffets with little kids, but other people like them - little ones (under 3) do eat free at the buffets. Hosts a character breakfast

Yachtsman steakhouse - Steak, fancy. I wouldn't bring kids.

Yacht Club Gallery - basic hotel cafe.

Swan and Dolphin

bluezoo - a Todd English restaurant - wouldn't bring kids in here either.

Fresh - a buffet, not open for dinner.

Gullivers - Garden Grove - don't know much - used to do a character dinner

Kimonos - sushi and karaoke - doesn't sound like a good place for kids to me.

Palio - fancy Italian - I wouldn't do it with kids

Shulas - steak - again, I wouldn't do it with kids

Looking at the list, I'd choose Spoodles or Beaches and Cream

I also agree with either Spoodles or Beaches & cream

and if your with toddlers, do beaches & cream..
they will love it! :sunny: :rotfl:

grilled cheese, hamburgers, chicken fingers.
cute place but as others have stated very very small restaurant
found it kept my kids amused though when they were young

btw, where are you staying?

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I truly appreciate your advice. I think Spoodles and Beaches & Cream seem to be the two we'll choose from.

Crisi -

You are AWESOME!! Thanks so much for the breakdown of the restaurants - it's exactly what I needed to make my decision. Thanks again.

I like Spoodles. There is something on the menu for everyone and my kids really like it. The prices are reasonable too.
