YIKES! After a similar thread last Spring, I did some internet research. We should ALL be checking the mattresses when we arrive, for the little rusty-colored skidmarks these guys leave behind. There is no evidence of the actual critters in the daytime... they come out in the dark and look for BLOOD!
It seems there is an epidemic of these guys again. They are hard to kill as pesticides, with good reason, can not legally be as strong as they once were. Florida was cited as a leading state for infestation, because of the warm climate and huge number of travelers from places all over the world. These little guys won't likely kill you, just make you itchy and grossed-out. Everyone, take a peek at the bedding and mattress one you check into a room... This is not related to any lack of cleanliness and vigilant guests can help keep these critters from taking over!
