After an extensive refurbishment, the Boardwalk Bakery reopened today (April 26, 2013) and I was impressed. But before I show you the great work the Imagineers did, I'll show you a few before pictures.

Click link for more details and lots of great photos.

Yay! I going to have to stop by next time we are there to check it out I've always liked going to the boardwalk bakery.

OMG!

I'm so happy with all of them improvements! I can't wait to see it in person in August!! :cool1:

I think I know where I will be eating lunch the end of August! The salads and the bagel sandwiches look good. THANKS.

How fun would it be to just purchase one of the cakes, go out to one of the nearby little tables with plates and forks and have an impromptu party with whoever is around?!?!?!

(It's been a long day!:dance3:)

Never been here so dont know much about it........

However, here's a fairly random and possibly completely way off the mark thought. Maybe they've refurbed here around the same time as some other locations are converting to starbucks ran as a bit of a comparison. This way they can see guest opinion vs costs etc of outsourcing compared to doing it the proper disney way.

I cant figure out any other reason why this wouldnt have been converted into a starbucks now otherwise??

Boardwalk Bakery is part of the counter service offering for the Boardwalk resort (along with counter pizza and poolside stuff.) I think starbucks wants more high traffic areas.. customer flow is up and down through the day.

What I want to know from anyone who has been there since re-opening is:

- Is there more room now inside for the guest line?
- Can you see and review options for more than 10 seconds before you reach the register and need to choose and pay?
- Is there a resort mug refill station more easily accessed?
- Will the line still clog the doorway for people who are exiting?
- Will you have to outside stand in the rain for 15 minutes during peak time to get through the line?

I am a DVC Boardwalk Owner and the Bakery has been a pet peeve for me!

Someone on the one site asked if breakfast items were hot. I can't imagine egg sandwiches would be cold.

Breakfast

Ham, Egg and Cheese Croissant $5.99

Egg and Cheese Croissant $4.99

yes
- Can you see and review options for more than 10 seconds before you reach the register and need to choose and pay? no-today they were asking for your orderas you entered the line. The "line stretch from the register back to the door. They had already takent the orders of the people ahead.
- Is there a resort mug refill station more easily accessed? Yes it has its own entrance
- Will the line still clog the doorway for people who are exiting? Not from what I saw
- Will you have to outside stand in the rain for 15 minutes during peak time to get through the line? Not sure sun was shining-did not seem anyone standing around after the line.

livndisney - thanks so much. The pictures gave a clue there is a longer queue area but it was hard to tell about the mug refill (good news). So even with the longer queue same problem as before... you are almost on top of the register before you can see much and that means the line bogs down.. so they send people out... they should run 2 registers and send people who are ready ahead to the second register!

This may be "good" news. You see the case well before the register. When you walk in is the "grab n go type" area then the "case" with menu board over it then the register.

Does anyone know if the Boardwalk bakery serves espresso drinks- in particular lattes? If they do not- where is the closest place that I can find one? We are staying at the Beach Club. Thanks!

I hope someone can answer the espresso question. They did not have special coffee drinks before the remodel, but there was a stand on the boardwalk, but it was never open before 9 and we were always on our way to the parks by then!
