I've read that there are several really soaking wet water rides in the US park. Would guys be allowed to just wear boardshorts for the day rather than "real" shorts or do you not really see that going on? I just thought it might be good for DH & DS to wear their boardshorts that day so they dry off quickly...but I also don't want them to be out of place in doing so. :rolleyes1

This is what we plan to do - heck, I even have board sorts and a rashie and I'm going to be wearing them for the water ride leg of the trip. As to looking out of place, eh, I've seen girls in Bikinis (tops and bottoms) in the parks...

To me boardshorts are no different than any other pair of shorts and since they dry quickly, should be ideal to wear. I don't think anyone would feel out of place wearing them.

Perfectly normal; but they must keep a shirt on the entire time. Cotton tees do not tend to dry fast; wicking tees or woven shirts are a better choice on top.

Very normal my husband and sons wear board shorts :thumbsup2

Thanks...it's just that their patterns have more going on than regular shorts so they're a little more obvious.

Exactly what I was thinking - either Nike or UA wicking T-shirts. :thumbsup2

Last year, my DS wore his bathing suit and a dry fast T-Shirt. No one said a thing. Even DD wore her quick dry shorts and shirt over her bathingsuit. No one said anything elther. Both dried pretty quickly after the water rides. And both kids were soaked big time on the water rides. Loved them. We'll be back in a few weeks, and when in IOA, its bathingsuits and quick dry clothes.

Bathing suit / board shorts and ring your shirt out when you get off :cool2:

Last year I spent a day (or 2) just repeatedly riding the Bilge Rafts just getting soaked.

That day I wore my sandles, Bathing Suit (Board Shorts), And a stay-dry workout shirt while on the ride. I had another polo type shirt on over the stay-dry top which I took off on the ride.

By the time I walked over to the Discovery Center (including a ride on jurassic Park) I was dry enough that I had not problems putting my polo back on over my other shirt and didn't feel wet at all.

just remember... when riding the water rides, You are REQUIRED to wear shirt, AND SHOES. You cannot take off either your shirt or shoes in an attempt to keep them dry.

DH and DS always wear bathing suits and quick dry tee shirts to IOA and I have a pair of shorts and top from LLBean that is extremely quick drying, and DD wears quick drying shorts, bathing suit tom and tank top. We walk around the park in comfy sneakers and then before we go on all the wet ride we go back to the locker we have rented and change into flipflops and sandals.

Last year I spent a day (or 2) just repeatedly riding the Bilge Rafts just getting soaked.

Did the same thing our last trip. Even stayed on for 6 consecutive rides and then repeated for another 10 looping around each time - with essentially no wait, just had to get off since they were filling each raft.

What we always tend to do when we do this is plan a day specifically for it, because no matter what you wear, it takes time to dry. When staying onsite, we do the following

Get to park at opening. Ride Dragon Challenge until the wait gets to be more than one car or two at most. Then we make our way counter-clockwise hitting the rides along the way (Forbidden Journey, Jurrassic Park and Dudley's ripsaw falls.) Then we stop and spend time at Bluto's. Last time for all 16 rides, I think about 1.5 hours. Then we head back to the hotel with a stop a Hulk (maybe).

We can usually do the above and be back at the hotel by Noon. We can then change (check out if its our last day) and head back to the park all dry and ready to do the rest of the rides.

I would worry more about IOA for water rides and the need to wear board shorts. You can get REALLY wet on Popeye's/Bluto's Raft Ride, etc. Lots of water there to drench you.
