If you bought a ticket for the child, you can print the pass. I have done it b4. I don't know about a "lapchild."

This is our first ever vacation and the closer it gets the more nervous i am getting instead of excited. Can you tell me what I am supposed to do when I get to the airport? Check bags, go through security, and how do I board the plane? We will have 3 kids DD7, DS5 and DD15months. Will we get to board first? Where do I go when i get on the plane if there are not assigned seats? Do i go to the front or do I sit near the back, which is better? I would perfer if a wing weren't blocking our veiw. Sorry for all the questions and TIA for all you help!!

Here's my advice FWIW:
1)If you can print the boarding passes the night (post midnight) before or early the next morning, do it. But if you can't, don't woory about it because you will be able to preboard
2) Are you parking your car at the airport or being dropped off?
3) Personally, with 3 kids, I'd budget for the extra $2/bag tip and check your bags curbside when you get dropped offf, if you have that available at your airport. Saves the hassle of standing in line. the Skycap will give you your boarding passes if you didn't get them on line. If you did get them on line, just let the skycap know you got them.
4) After checking bags proceed through security check point and to the gate. It's best to wear shoes that slip on and off easily, and at least for adults, I always just take them off and put them in a bin to go through extra. YOu can do this with any coats, too.
5) At the gate, if there's not a line at the desk, ask where the preboard line will be - You may want to also see how full the flight is.
6) I know alot of people love the front of the plane. Last time we were in the front, it did seem quieter. However, if you've checked luggage front or back, you still have to wait for bags so I've never seen this as a big issue However, if the flight is not full and you head to the back of plane, you may have a little more room to spread out. You can glance out the windows where you may be choosing to sit to make sure a wing doesn't block your view

Here's a really silly question that I'm almost embarrassed to ask . . . when I read about printing boarding passes after midnight, I'm assuming that's midnight in the city you are departing from? Not midnight eastern time or anything? Just thought I'd check.

I read the online section and it says that you can only do it if you have an adult fare, so if you have a child you can't do it online.

The only time that you can't check in a child is if you purchase a special child fare, which is not available when booking online. The child fare is generally a discount on the most expensive, unrestricted ticket, so in 99% of the cases, the prices you get by booking online on regularly priced tickets (which are the same price per person... adult or child) is cheaper than the special child fare that is available.
