Board Walk-Big River Grill and Espn??

We were walking the boardwalk after Epcot and decided to go have a drink at ESPN. My Dh and I split an order of nachos and when they came out I was sure we couldn't finish it between the two of us. We never came up for air, they were so good, and they were gone very fast. I don't normally care for nachos but these hit the spot. We liked them so much we went back the next night and plan on going there again this next trip. I wouldn't say ESPN is exceptional but it is a good atmosphere with good food. It is a bit noisy because of all the TVs.

When it comes to noise and the TV's at the ESPN Club even though they have a lot of them, the only one with sound is their big screen that's over the entrance/exit doors. All the other TV's will still be on but without any sound, so I don't think it's as bad as some might think it is.

ESPN seems reasonable in price to me, for Disney anway. I don't think the I'd waste a table service meal on it. The nachos are huge and make a good, cheap entree.

To comment on Big River grill--I've never eaten there, but we usually stay at BWV and it doesn't seem like there's ever much of a crowd there, if that's any indication...

Of course you will get all kinds of responses and as one posters mentioned you will just have to try them for yourself...that being said I'll just add my own 2 cents LOL!!:lmao:

More recently we were at ESPN which we enjoyed as we have 9 or so years ago. It's always been consistently pretty good, not spectacular but good and enjoyable. It's not a signature restaurant so you wouldn't expect signature food.

It's been a while since we've been to BRBW which we also did enjoy once upon a time. I do have to add though that there was one night when they were busy we tried to dine there and we sat at the little bar in they have in the middle of the bar for 15+ minutes and not one person there came up to help us so we left. That could happen anywhere (or could it ;)?)...I don't know.

I do have a review from our last visit to ESPN if you'd like to check it out:

Both are ok for a beer and a burger. I don't think Big River even has a bar (?) so when we go to either of these, it's ESPN and we eat at the bar.

Wow, well that really is a bummer because the menu's do look tasty. I will need to give my ADR's another quick look. Thanks for everyone's honest opinion.:thumbsup2

We eat at Big River every trip and think it's great. The steaks are always very good, the sandwich's, ribs, and pasta dishes have been very good too!

Oh yeah, the micro brews are awesome as well.

We've had great meals at Big River in the past (nachos are fabulous) but I didn't think you can make an ADR there. (for ESPN either) It's simply not in the ADR system (as far as I can see)

My husband is a craft beer junkie - so we have gone the past two trips. In 2009 - I thought it was pretty good. Last year, it was good, but not as good. My one complaint is the tables, and last time we had a really bad table! I believe I got the steak both times and both times on the DDP

That being said - we aren't going back this time because he found out Kona brewing is served at Kona cafe!

When we stay at BWV, BRG is always our arrival lunch. The burgers are great and we love sitting outside and taking in the atmosphere. Wish I was there right now...........!

Regarding it not being crowded, I've had a room above it and it was noisy until late at night.

BRG been many times and every time ask ourselves why we came back..convenience. ESPN is just fun, basic bar food.

ESPn doesn't take reservations but big River does.

It's our BWV arrival lunch spot too. Love the nachos. All the appetizers are good. Good burgers and blackened Mahi sandwich. I don't drink beer but friends say the beer samplers are great. Even though the food may not be exactly gourmet quality, it's so fun to dine on the boardwalk and people watch. Very crowded when our room was right above BRG in Dec. until well after Illuminations. They now take TIW card too. Try it, you might like it.

I can't find it in the reservation system. Are you saying it's there? I know they do call ahead seating and probably take outside ressies, but I can't find them in the ADR system...if it's there, I"m blind.

We love ESPN club...especially DS12! Having your own tv to watch sports while eating nachos and chicken wings is the idea of a prefect meal for my sports loving family. you can let the waiters now if you want your tv channel changed to watch a certain sports game that may no be playing on the big screens around the restaurant.
we love it and it would go there again!

Actually that's not 100% true because Big River Grill doesn't accept ADR's made through WDW reservations. To get a reservation there you need to call them directly.

In the 2/3 times we went to the ESPN Club this past December that's exactly what we asked our server to do and it was no problem having them put the Hockey game I wanted to watch on one of the small TV's. The 1st time we went it just so happened to be that the game I wanted to watch was scheduled to be played on their big screen with the sound, so that was a very nice surprise and it was shown through the Maple Leafs broadcast.

We tend to eat at Big River frequently. I like their sandwiches/burgers and beer.

ESPN to me is a mixed bag. Lunch or early dinner is fine. If you go later at night, service is terrible and the food is limited. Much better off getting the food from room service (depending what you order, it might be the food from ESPN).
