dis-happy says : Ressie lovers, unite!
I think I just used this term on another recent thread :rotfl2:

I've been on internet message boards for way too long (since '97) to change my ways......can't teachie an old doggie new trickies...... ;) :dogdance:

Feel free to communicate in any way that you feel comfortable. But thanks for typing out that list of alternative expressions. It was funny!

I am fine with the acronyms (DH, etc.), probably because I've worked in the computer field for so long. But ressie sounds too "cute" and I can't bring myself to use that term. I don't really like having to type out "reservation" all the time either so if someone wants to come up with a good acronym for it, I'll be OK with that! :thumbsup2

For all "ressie"-haters, how 'bout ADRs? :teeth:

I don't mind ADR or POTC or OKW or any of the initials. In fact, I use them.
I just won't use the Ds or the word ressie.

Oh, and I will always use the whole entire word because, not cuz.

Well, one thing that's good:

Those of us who use this board are DISer's.

That's much better than being a DISee. :teeth:

(Anyway, that sounds too much like dizzy, which is better used as an adjective such as being called a dizzy DISer. Face it, who wants to be called a dizzy Disee!)

Just to clarify, I'm not a "ressie"-hater. I just find it too cute for my tastes so I don't use it. But I don't hate it. I might cringe a little when I read it but not as much as when I see "prolly" instead of probably. Maybe I can ask one of the DIS webmasters to replace "prolly" with "******" whenever it's used! :rotfl:

"Cracking the code"

Myself, DW, DS(2) and DS(6) just got back from a great family trip to WDW this last Jan. We arrived via DL at MCO and took DME to WL. The first days we went to MK and checked out a lot of our favorite stuff, such as POTC, THM, SM, BTMR, and SM. Pesonaly I like WDS more than MK since my favorite attractions are FTM and TOT but I also really enjoy Epcot and MTM and WS.

The next day we met up with Dsis and DBIL and another Dsis and DBIL and yet another Dsis and DBIL as well as my DM and DF. They fley in via HP to MCO from AZ. They didn't use DME and none of us used DDP for this trip. We also visited IOA and USF during the trip, but not SWO.

The next 10 days were a blast and we didn't want to leave.

Now, DW and I are excited to join DVC by purchasing some SSR and BWV points hopefully. We also plan to stay at OKW and VWL as often as possible. We will also visit DLR every other year for at least a couple days at try to stay at GCH and DLH. At least until my DS is 10 YRS, we will most likely use DDP at WDW for most of our stays and we will likely always use DME and just rent a car at the Dolphin when necessary.

See ya at "the world"!

Say what?

I agree. I use res or resv, instead. Only began using DH under my new s/n - always used "husband" before. Now, I just do it to make my sentences less long winded. (If that's possible! )

Even though I'm on the DIS almost every day & go to WDW at least 1x per week, I still have trouble reading posts with all of the acronyms like POTC, SM, etc. I forget what they all are as I'm reading & have to go to the Tech Board to search for them. Half the time they're not even there & I just give up.

I'm still trying to figure out what "Sticky" as in "Sticky Thread" means. (Post-it notes? Or am I way off base????

Some board software programs (like the DIS) call them "stickys", other programs say "pinned" (as in push pin). Basically it means the thread is stuck or pinned to the top and does not require new posts to bump it back up.

The next day we met up with Dsis {Dear Sister} and DBIL {Dear Brother In Law} and another Dsis {Dear Sister} and DBIL (Dear Brother In Law} and yet another Dsis {Dear Sister} and DBIL {Dear Brother In Law} as well as my DM {Dear Mother} and DF {Dear Father}. At least that's what I came up with so far :).

I use it because it's quicker. Never given much thought to its "cute" factor. What bothers me more than acronyms and "ressie", are all the people who can't seem to figure out that there's a difference between "there, their, & they're" and my personal favorite "alot".

If you've ever known anyone from England, you'll know that they use terms like "breky" for Breakfast and "brolly" for umbrella. They have all sorts of terms that are shortened variations of longer words and use them in everyday conversation. Maybe it's making it's way across the pond!

Ok, my DH came to me and asked why are you calling me your damn husband? I didn't do anything wrong~

Yes Dear.

AGain, typing with a broken finger, I need all the help I can get. Taken the duelly truck down the road again. Mtnman, My friends with duellies cring when I say I have duelly....tanks that is.

Not Bad. Here's a few more.

SM - you said Splash Mountain twice. I think one of those should be Space Mountain.

THM - The Haunted Mansion

SWO - Sea World Orlando

DLR - Disneyland Resort

GCH - Grand Californian Hotel

DLH - Disneyland Hotel

Darn! I can't believe I missed that one. Edited my post to include Caskbill's entries. Any one know what FTM is?

I have to admit, I think that one is my own creation. It was meant to stand for: Fan-Tas-Mic
