Board DCL while Sick???

Would/Did you Board DCL while Sick?

  • Yes...Why risk being denied passage.

  • No...Why infect other passengers.

  • Yes...I've already done it.

  • No...I've told the DCL port that I was sick.

I think it would also depend on the illness. On the last few trips we have taken at least one of our children gets sick at one time or another from too much excitement, food, etc. On our NC/ Florida trip last month DD#2 ate way too fast at dinner at her aunt's house and blew cheese cubes all over the 3rd tier at the Carolina Hurricanes game. She was fine as soon as she threw up. If I had a cruise to board the following day I would have done it, since I have seen this from my girls before and know it's not infectious.
BTW we are working on DD#2 to eat S-L-O-W-L-Y.

Interesting to read the vote where over 40% would get on the ship but almost all of the posts are saying no they wouldn't board.
I agree with how you define "sick" has alot to do on how you would vote on this poll. If I had a family of 3 or 4, one of us was ill and we had spent 4 or 5 grand go ahead and flame me but probably would.
It is very easy to say you'd forgo a holiday of a lifetime and to those that say it now, and actually would do that kudos to you.
Easier said than done imho :)

That's kind of interesting Grumbo, cause I was just sitting here thinking the same thing.

It is easy to say, I would or would not do something, when you are not actually facing that situation at the moment. It might be a totally different story if you were standing there with those circumstances.

Thats probably cus us Canucks are sitting here in -35C temps and trying to keep us off of a ship going to somewhere warm would be tantamount to hare kare for the poor DCL employee :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Could be some truth in that statement, Grumbo!!!!

Get outta my way....I need some warmth!!!!!!:p

I voted no however I agree with the other posters about the definition of sick.If I knew it was something serious and contageous I would not board. But my kids are all asthmatic and tend to sound like typhoid Mary half the year. THey are certainly not contageous but I have received many disgusted stares when one of them starts hacking.I do cruise when they just have had asthma attacks though.

On our first cruise my dh got strep throat which settled in his eye.He was very sick but was in no way confined in his cabin. As a matter of fact the ship doctor told him to cover his eye(it was sensitive to the sun) and go sit by the pool to get some sun. He said he knew there were others on board with strep that they had come to him before we evenleft port and he gave them antibiotics.Ok I know this isn't norwalk but still strep is pretty contageous.Of course this was before the cancelled cruise and the epidemic of Norwalk last year.
My 1 year old son got sick last cruise at Flounders. He was crying uncontrollably and eventually the mucous build up was to much so they called me to get him because he threw up. They took his clothes and had them cleaned and eencouraged me to bring him back the next day for another try. Now granted they are not doctors but it was obvious he was not sick. But according to the 72 hour rule he should not have been allowed out of the cabin.
