BMI Diamond Club Miles

I started collecting these a year ago, with the intention of flying out to Orlando with BMI. As I understand it the Manchester-MCO route has gone.

I've got 88,000 miles that I don't know what to do with. In theory I think the miles can be used with Virgin and some other airlines but is this really possible in terms of availability? We would still like to use the miles but I'm not sure if there is an expiry date on them either.

We've already booked flights for this year with a charter to Sanford so it would be next year or 2011 we'd be looking at. All in all I'm fairly clueless and any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,

You can still use bmi miles on Virgin flights, but only to pay in full for a return flight (50,000 miles plus taxes).

There are also options of using US Airways or Delta, or indeed any other Star Alliance carrier, to fly from MAN to MCO. These flights are 45,000 miles return, 22,500 miles one-way (plus taxes). You can buy additional bmi miles at around £10 per 1,000 plus a one-off £15 admin fee.

Also, check out the bmi credit card - quite often this will give new card holders 20,000 bmi miles after spending an amount (about £300) in the first three months.

Note that if you have a bmi diamond club card, you can get Virgin flights added to this at around 4,500 each way MAN - MCO.

I don't think there is an expiry date on bmi miles. remember that if you are booking for 2011, get in touch with bmi 330 days prior to your flights to book them.
