Hi! I remember there was a thread here a while ago regarding the blurb book and the pens that are best to use to write on the book....but of course, now I can't find it. Can someone help me with this?? For those of you have used a blurb book for your guest book, what is the BEST pen to use for people to sign with (so it won't be messy and is acid free, etc..)? Thanks so much in advance! :goodvibes

I was told to use American Crafts Slickwriters for any guest book, Blurb or otherwise, so we got a few in different colors. They didn't bleed through and so far, all these many years later :teeth: they haven't faded...

THANKS Carrie!! I'm so glad to hear that ! :cool1: By the way, can you get these at any store...or do they have to be a specialty store? Just wondering. Also, I was just curious, did you (or anyone else) have any issues with people writing ON your engagement pictures or putting a funny face (ie. like a mustache) on your pictures? I heard this happened to a past bride, and now I feel like I need to put a note to the side of my blurb guest photobook to request something along the lines of "Please do not write or draw on the photos". What are your (or anyones) thoughts on this? Thanks!

I think you can get them anyplace that sells scrapbooking supplies - I ordered mine online so I wouldn't have to run all over town.

We did have some people draw on one of our pictures, but fortunately they didn't draw on *us*! I don't know how one avoids this. It seems like you shouldn't have to leave a note, but you never know what some people will think is funny. And if you make a big deal out of telling people not to do it, it might have the opposite effect on certain guests.... :scratchin Maybe you could have a family member, like your MIL, kind of let people know...?

I think maybe on the table you could just have a little sign saying something like "Please leave your well wishes on the blank pages" or something along those lines without it seeming rude or anything.

Related question, do you think its ok to get the premium paper for a guest book? Its a thicker paper so I think it would be nicer, but it says the finish is "silk" while the basic paper is matte. Would this create a problem with the signing such as smudging, etc? Has anyone got this finish and used it for a guest book? Thanks so much!

Thanks for your input Carrie! :) Yeah, I thought about that as well--that it might actually have the "opposite effect on certain guests" who will draw on your photos just to be funny or something. I'm just going to HOPE and pray for the best! Thanks again!! :goodvibes

Thanks for your input! Also...that's a good question about the paper...I just received my blurb book and I ordered it on premium paper. The premium paper feels really nice, and I hope it won't be a problem that I did it with premium paper. Hopefully someone else can help with this question as I haven't had my wedding yet so I don't know. :)

I know what you mean about drawing on the pictures but actually I would not mind if someone put Mickey and Minnie ears on one of our photos.

Hi these question are mostly for Lurkyloo since she seems to be the Blurb expert, but if anyone else knows that is great too! Carrie, do you know anything about the Premium Paper and if it will be ok for people to sign on? It says the finish is called silk, instead of matte like the normal paper so I was a little concerned it could smudge. What do you think? I also have a pen question too. I am in love with this pen that matches my Toasting Flutes from Swarovski, and think it would be so pretty to use at the wedding for signing our guest book. Heres a link: http://www.swarovski.com/Web_US/en/1049329/product/Crystalline_Ballpoint_Pen,_white_pearl.html It is a ballpoint, do you think it would work alright for this purpose? I dont want it to "dent" the pages. It says it has high quality ink but I dont know if it is acid-free or even what an acid-free pen is for? Help please! Thanks so much!
Marissa

Marissa, I can answer part of your question . . .
We used premium paper for our Blurb.com guest book, and it didn't smudge. People signed with Sharpie markers and it wasn't a problem.
