My dh is in Orlando right now for the Builder's Show, and tomorrow night he's being taken to Bluezoo at the Dolphin, and then onto DTD for some fun after that! (Waaa, he's so lucky!)

So what's Bluezoo like? What am I missing (and will hear all about when I have him tell me every tiny detail when he gets home! LOL)?

We ate there in October and loved it. I had the block of swordfish that was cooked to perfection and DH had rare tuna which was also excellent, Service was wonderful. I'm sure he'll ejoy his visit.

It's a very high end restaurant, with superb food and very high prices. do a Google search, their menu is online.

Thanks! Yeah, I saw the menu here on wdwinfo. I guess I was looking for someone to describe their experience there to me... :)

One plus if you eat there is that you get 2 hours of free childcare in the Dolphin Club! :flower1:

I'm interested in this place, too. Has anyone dined there recently? It looks like they have a new wine tasting menu?

There doesn't seem to be many DISers who've gone here, huh?! LOL I'll let you know what my dh says about it! :)

I'm interested in hearing about this restaurant as well. DH and I are finally going to have a night out to ourselves (DD is now old enough to babysit), so I am planning on a nice dinner somewhere and then PI afterwards. Bluezoo is one of the places I am considering.

I just spoke with him, they're eating there at 7:30 tonight, right now they're shopping at DTD! Ahhh, I wish I was there too! Anyhoo, I'll let you know what he says about it. :) Did you see the website? http://www.swandolphin.com/restaurants/bluezoo/index.htm
I told dh he should order the bluezoo surf and turf (for $52!!!), he said he probably will. (He's not paying. :teeth: )

My husband and I went shortly after it opened. It is a very neat looking restaurant. We were there early in the evening and yet we were still sat in the back of the restaurant at a little corner half booth table. There was an older couple next to us. We ended up talking about how odd we thought is was to be put so far in a corner when the restaurant was large and open. However, our server was attentive and the food was good. I can't remember what I had for dessert but it was good. We had a sampler of different oysters for appetizer. My husband had fish, I had filet. Both good. I don't remember it being outstanding though. (I love food, so for me not to remember is saying something.) It is expensive, but if you like seafood, especially oysters, its nice. We would go back, but next time I would ask to sit at the bar. The bar is really cool looking.
OH, but I do remember that I would valet park next time as it can be a real hike to get to the restaurant if you drive.

liznboys - thanks for keeping us posted....The place does look really cool.

Well, I talked to him this morning and his review of bluezoo is mixed... I'll let him tell you about it himself tomorrow when he is home. :)

Hi, liznboys DH here.

Here is my experience at bluezoo. I was with a group of about 15 people, had reservations at 8:00 pm Friday night. Got there at 7:30 for cocktails. The long wait to get seated began. If you have a large group, do not go to this restaurant. They only have one table available to fit everyone as one group.
We were "partially" seated at around 9:45. Apparently the folks sitting at "our" table literally sat there and drank coffee for over two hours. They were done with their meal when we got there but just decided to lounge around. We complained to the staff, but there was nothing they could do.
So they finally asked us to sit at two separate tables for appetizers and then let us move when the other folks left. About 10 minutes in, they got up. The entire wait staff went into action, setting the table in record time. Got my first bite of food just after 10 pm. The raw bar sampler was fabulous. I had New England clam chowder soup and then the Shasimi Tuna as an entree.
The food was very good, but the service from our waiter, Eric was even better. In fact it may have been the best I have ever experienced. Again, the food did come out a little too slow for my taste, again probably due to our large group. We had an assortment of desserts, all excellent.

I would recommend bluezoo for couples - nice atmosphere, great service, and great food - if price is not an issue for you. This place is expensive. Stay away if you have a large group.

liznboys - who ever did the table assignments for that evening screwed up -especially since you had reservations. They could anticipate your party's size and timing well ahead of time and prepare the seating map accordingly. You shouldn't have waited that long, not even half an hour to be seated, or they should have comped a round of drinks or something for that horrendous wait...Sorry that happened, but it sounds like the meal was good.

liznboys dh:
Thanks for the review. The problem with the Zoo is that it is in a hotel that handles a lot of conventions, meetings, etc. So there are apt to be many nights where there will be larger groups eating there. In fact, when we ate there in October, that is exactly what we found. Many groups of 8-10-12 spread all over the restaurant, plus a party of 20+ in the back room.

We ate there twice in April and loved it. However, it was just ds12 and myself. There were many tables with children much younger though. We loved the atmosphere - visually it is just a really pretty place. But the food and the service were amazing. DS will and does eat everything. He quickly became addicted to the shake-n-bake fries and whatever seafood of the night was. We both loved the oysters and I think they have the best tuna tartare on property! We went both nights around 7:30, had reservations and were seated immediately. Both nights as we left we noticed the bar was full with dinners. Yes, it is pricey but the food is wonderful, the servers are swift, knowledgeable and friendly and the wine list is good.
