I am going all out for my 40th!!! DH, Ds (8), my niece (17), and myself will be spending Labor Day Weekend (b-day is 9/2) at the YC concierge. The menu for bluezoo looks great! We have eaten at all of the restaurants at the YC/BC, so thinking of walking over to the Dolphin and trying something new. Ds is okay at fine dining rest. He usually brings along his gameboy (no one can even tell he's using it) in case he gets bored, but hardly ends up needing it. His cousin will be with us and he just loves her. The kids menu looks good, too, so I think he'll be fine and I really want them to come with us.

Tell me about your experiences!!!

Just wishing you an early birthday (I had that same big one back in March) and hoping you get some good replies because I am hoping to eat there during our December trip. I have to call Thursday for ADRs.

You mentioned walking from the YC. Do you know if it is walking distance from Epcot?

Thanks for asking these questions and I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Blue Zoo is a must do every trip for us now.
Try the littleneck clams flatbread. Most excellent.
The fresh oyster selection is worth a try, as well, if you like those.

It is maybe a 3-5 minute walk from YC, and no more than 8-10 from the IG in EPCOT (if you don't stop for anything else).

Happy Birthday to YOU! Try BZ, you will NOT be disappointed! My DH is still talking about that dinner!

We love bluezoo! You will definitely not be disppointed, and I think that it would be a great place to celebrate a 40th birthday. The miso glazed Chilean sea bass is one of the best fish dishes I have ever eaten, anywhere!

Here's a mini review of BlueZoo which I posted shortly after our first visit in July, 2004:

We ate there Thursday, 8 July. It's a large space and very hip and happening - especially the bar area as you enter. The decor is nice; the food is fabulous. Dh had the yellowfin tuna tartare to start, I had the teppan seared jumbo scallops on braised beef shortrib with silky cauliflower puree (yummy), elder dd had the crab gnoccho with black truffle aioli, younger dd and elder dd's boyfriend had the jumbo shrimp. For entrees, we tried swordfish (dh), barbecue pan roasted titan prawns on sweet cornbread (me), slow roasted double pork chop (elder dd and her boyfriend) and the shellfish selection platter (younger dd). We all loved everything we ate. Elder dd and her bf both really wanted the pork, but were a bit reluctant as they felt they should really be having seafood (it's mainly a seafood place). We'd eaten seafood the day before and I managed to convince them that they should just have what they wanted. They were so pleased they did - the pork was 'melt in the mouth'. We were all too full for dessert.

We had a reservation for 8pm and we were seated in the far corner next to a window and the private dining room. As it's such a large restaurant, we felt a bit 'out of things' and, as it was still light when we arrived, the ambiance wasn't quite right (it's a dimly lit restaurant). We will definitely go again, but I will ask to be seated in the thick of things.

I'm pleased to report that we went back in December, 2004 and we did ask to be seated in the middle of the restaurant! It made a big difference and I noticed far more, such as the fantastic light fittings - they're gorgeous! The first time we went the bar area was heaving. The second time it was empty and I realised there are actually quite a few bench tables there - not sure whether they serve the same menu, but it it looked like a nice place to sit, too.

We went there for our anniversary in May; I second the miso glazed Chilean sea bass being wonderful! We also liked the key lime tart (?) for dessert. Great atmosphere & service!
