Blue's Road Trip - Part II ~ New 5/6: It Pays To Have Connections!!

Who's this Harry Potter person? :confused3

Is it the Colonel guy from MASH, did he write a book?

I was a Harry Potter Widower this week-end

I may have to put my pre-trip on hold, until I finish reading Harry Potter! I'm buying mine this morning! :yay:

...Just try not to drift off onto page two. And forget about page three! That's really No-Man's Land!!

Tell Dad to keep bumping you until you've finished the book! :thumbsup2

Hey, blue! Done any Disney-shopping lately??

Kathy

It's not cheese, you're thinking of Buzz  :rotfl2:

Speaking of cheese, I got drunk with a customer last week in Kalispell, MT and fell down hurting my arm and leg.

When I got back up, all I could think about was Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar Cheese.

I've decided not to drink any more. Probably not any less though either. :rolleyes1

I see your edit comment there blue. Very sneaky.

Yes, I've been gone for two weeks and I've left my laptop at home. I hate that darn thing. Only thing it's good for is LIVE trip reports.

I now have 40 guys in town for our annual sales meeting. Linnie will have her hands full (as well as the Billings ACE Taxi Service). Wish me luck!

Oh, and blue... Your almost there baby!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Ed took Tricia to Borders at midnight on Friday....she finished the book last night!! (She's eleven.)

Kathy

Wow!!! She's a fast reader :thumbsup2

I'm 2/3 of the way through and hope to be finished by tomorrow.

I finished the book this afternoon. It would have been done earlier but I spent yesterday afternoon and evening with my dad and the dreaded stepmother They took us to see Transformers and then out to dinner which was nice but the whole time I was wanting to be at home immersed in Harry Potter.

The book was so good! I cried at so many points throughout the book and when I finished it I was left with this really odd feeling of emptiness, sort of like "What do I do now Erich still isn't finished. He has three chapters to go but he had to work tonight so I am very impatiently waiting for him to get off work and finish it so we can talk all about it.

Have you finished the book yet??

Not fair, not fair.

I just haven't had the time to get some good reading in but I'll be done soon as I mentioned above :yay:

I'm just at the point where Dobby dies :sad1:

ETA: Kathy - No I haven't done any Disney shopping BUT Goofy bought DH an EPlate (Digital License Plate Frame) where you can store up to five messages. I'm sure the girls are going to have fun with that on our road trip.

http://www.gearfuse.com/eplate-has-potential-to-tell-that-person-what-you-really-think/

to read about it.

um...just wondering if any of you Americans know if this is legal in the states???

Blue,

I do believe this is the first time I've ever seen Smilie-buns!!:rotfl:

Kathy

Heh Heh. I didn't notice that until you pointed it out and uh....there are some pretty indecent smilies out there that I'd never post here on the DIS

Yahooty!!! We've added an extra day to our trip :wizard:

We’ve made a slight change in plans. DH and I have decided to leave on August 22 instead of the 23 after he’s finished work for the day. The girls and I will look after packing everything into the vehicle during the morning so that when Grumpy gets home, all he has to do is shower and change.

I figure we’ll be on the road by 4:00 pm at the latest, and hopefully be across the border by 7:00. We’d like to get in as many hours of driving as possible so that we arrive in Florida on the evening of the 23rd. We’re going to stay one night in Cocoa Beach (thanks to the advice from a DIS friend) and spend the day of the 24th on the beach at the ocean. The girls have never been and would love to see it. :beach:

:dance3: :cheer2: :dance3:

That sounds like a perfect way to start your vacation. Make sure you get up before sunrise to watch that. It's beautiful. We arrived in St. Augustine one year before sun up. I have pictures of the boys (little) chasing seagulls in the sunrise.

Great Idea!!

What border crossing would you be using???????

Do you have a phone number for them???????

Oh, and what is the licensee number on the car your taking??????

Just asking :confused3

Hello, Canadians Most Wanted...I have some information you may be interested in.

Buzz's Tips for Crossing the Border:

1. Leave the "I (heart) Obama" shirts at home

2. Instruct Grumpy to shave real close that morning & remove the turbine.

3. Take down the sniper scoped rifle from the back window

4. Big buckets of Canadian fruit are considered a "no-no".

5. If you're able to, put a NY Yankees bumper sticker in the window

6. Never laugh at how short the Border Guards are (personal experience).

7. Canadian copied sandals with the intent to sell is considered a Federal Offense.

8. Wolverines are beloved in America but never try to smuggle one across the border.

9. Canadian food was outlawed by the Bush Administration. Please leave your Beaver Jerky at home.

10. 55 Gallon Drums of fertilizer is always frowned upon.

Good luck!

Buzz's Tips for Crossing the Border:

1. Leave the "I (heart) Obama" shirts at home

:confused3 We'll be wearing our "GAT" shirts that I've had specially made for this trip.

2. Instruct Grumpy to shave real close that morning & remove the turbine.

I've already been giving him certain instructions. I think he's about had it with me :lmao:

3. Take down the sniper scoped rifle from the back window

 We don't own any guns.

4. Big buckets of Canadian fruit are considered a "no-no".

What about Amish cheese? :teeth:

5. If you're able to, put a NY Yankees bumper sticker in the window

So, I guess you're saying I better remove my "Toronto Blue Jays" sticker?

6. Never laugh at how short the Border Guards are (personal experience).

You got something against short people Mister??

7. Canadian copied sandals with the intent to sell is considered a Federal Offense.

Darn, now what am I going to do with all these crocs????

8. Wolverines are beloved in America but never try to smuggle one across the border.

What about muskrats? We're being over-run with them this summer :confused3

9. Canadian food was outlawed by the Bush Administration. Please leave your Beaver Jerky at home.

Hmmm...do ya think I could bribe them with Beaver Tails???

10. 55 Gallon Drums of fertilizer is always frowned upon.

Ah well there won't be any room left for that once JoJo packs all her belongings :rotfl:

:sunny: Make sure everyone uses lots of sunscreen....you don't want to bring a souvenier sunburn with you to WDW!! :headache:

Never heard of it.

Cocoa Beach is so nice. We stayed there two years ago when we went on our Disney Cruise. The girls will love the beach.

Finished Harry Potter last night, such a great series of books. DH is reading it now that I'm finished.

:sunny: Make sure everyone uses lots of sunscreen....you don't want to bring a souvenier sunburn with you to WDW!! :headache:

Kathy

That's a definate for my DH and Goofy. JoJo and I rarely burn but we still use the stuff.

This reminded me of a poem (and musical) from a few years back that was often played on the radio and the last line always stuck with me. Do you remember it? It has some very good advice.

Everybodys Free to Wear Sunscreen

Author: Baz Luhrmann

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering
experience…I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh never mind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

Sing

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.

Floss

Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..

Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.

Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen…
