I recently bought direct back in April for a 75 point CCV contract. I went online and requested a membership card that typically can take up to 8 weeks.

Three months have passed and I called MS in July to tell me no request has ever been made. They put in a new request and told me their outside company sends them out in the beginning of every month and I will receive it during the first week of August.

Called again today and MS is now telling me that it may not be here in time for my late Sep trip. I understand I can download a digital copy online.

Anyone else having the same issue as me trying to requesting a card?

Thanks!

Last time I needed a card, I went over to Saratoga Springs Sales Office and they are able to print one for you right there on the spot. If you have time it might be a solution. Double check that they are still able to do it there before putting in the effort.

I don’t think they print cards on site anymore. The digital card eliminates the need for that service.

Welcome to the world of DVC, you will learn to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Best to set up a DVC account for each person on the deed and download your blue card from the website.

I have requested them multiple times, and obtained multiple copies, so I would always have one. My wife has her own, but I carry one in my wallet, one in my backpack and one in my travel suitcase. I know that doesn't help you get yours, sooner, but by requesting them far in advance, I am never stuck without them.

Printing the temporary card works just fine. Even bringing it up on your computer screen and then using your phone to take a picture might work. I don't know. I have never tried that, but I don't see why not.

Do you get a card (digital or real) with resale purchases?

Do you get a card (digital or real) with resale purchases?

Yes, you do. But you need to ask for it just like everyone does. You can do this on the DVC members website. You can also call them, or talk to them in Chat from the website.

People who purchase resale are full owners of DVC and they get full use of DVC. So they get the DVC members card. That is the blue card. The only thing they do not get are the incidental benefits as you know. Those Incidental benefits are not in the DVC purchase contract so Disney can use them as an inducement to buy directly from them. However they are relatively minor. One of the best ones to me is the ability to use DVC points and the Disney collection to stay in a few places where it might be worth it, such as Port Orleans French quarter. However, Generally that is not worth it, and in most cases if you want to use your points to stay in a Disney resort that is not DVC what you should do is Rent your points and then use the cash to pay for your hotel room. You actually will usually come out ahead with a bit of extra cash. So you really are not missing anything with the lack of incidental benefits. The other incidental benefits are kind of nice but not that important. Some of them such as discounts can also be duplicated in other ways, such as purchasing an annual pass.

False. As a resale owner, you only get a white card that you can pull up on your phone or print out from any web browser. There is no physical card to send you.

FTFY.

I got a blue card.
Yes, you did. You also used it to get discounts you weren’t officially entitled to. That worked out for you.

But is this official policy? It is not. Is this what should be conveyed as a reasonable expectation for resale buyers? Probably not. What it certainly is though is discussing ways to curcumvent Disney establishes policy, which is a violation of board rules.

True, but all I did was ask for one. I will say it did take so long to get it that I actually forgot about asking for one.

Thank you for setting the record straight. I own Direct and by Resale and I only just recently put in the request for cards from my resale contracts. So I am interested now in what I am going to get.

Contracts do not get issued cards, memberships do. So assuming your contracts are under the same membership (same UY and titled the same), and there is a qualified contract (or contracts) within that membership, you will get a blue card.

If your resale contracts are under a separate, unqualified membership from your qualified direct membership, it’s anyone’s guess what you’re going to get. As SL6827 pointed out, for a period, DVD was inconsistent with its own policy in terms of what it was doing with issuing blue cards (imagine that).

There’s a rumor that there will be new expiring cards that will make those they sent out by accident obsolete.

Right, eventually my card will be obsolete. But I am still glad I have it so I can at least pull it out and use it to input my number in when I need to call. Handy as ever for just that.
