Blue Man Group?

We saw it in Chicago a few years ago and thought it was GREAT! Lots of fun and you definitely get an all encompassing experience! :thumbsup2

I saw their How to Be a MegaStar tour show a few years ago and it was HORRIBLE. We came very close to leaving several times and a few of the people we were with did leave in the middle of it because it was so bad.

My DH was begging to leave but I had heard rave reviews of the Blue Man Group so I kept expecting it to get better. It didn't.

From what I understand, this show is not the same as their stationary shows like the ones you'd find in Orlando, Las Vegas or Chicago.

I am highly opened minded and enjoy most everything. I'm not terribly picky and can generally find good in any live performance event. This one was the exception. It was really that bad.

We saw the Blue Man Group in Orlando last February. We thought the show was great. My husband, the kids and thought it was funny and light - hearted. Nothing that made you think too much---just what I needed on our last vacation:thumbsup2

I saw it in Boston with many family and friends a few years ago. I was not really interested in going but heck I did............AND I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Saw it in Vegas and I hated it. I have an open mind for theatre experiences, but I guess the crunching on cereal and squirting out Twinkie goo was a bit too open for me. I think you either love it or hate it.

I saw a road tour of the Complex Rock Concert several years ago, and the "talking" marquis on each side of the stage "pre show" was worth the admission alone. This show was one of the best theatrical displays I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot. I would love to see them again.

We saw it in Boston last winter and really did not enjoy the show. Tickets are not cheap but even if they were, I wouldn't see it again.

I don't know what to do. My DH asked me if I would like to see this w/him in Boston. My gut reaction was no way, it will be too loud & I don't see anything in the commercials that makes me think I will like it. I did not say that out loud, I just said I need to think about it. I went to the BMG website & I still think I won't like it. We don't go out very often, we have 3 children & are very busy w/their sports, school..... So part of me says I should say yes & enjoy a night out. But another part of me says I would rather go out for a nice dinner or something.

It's part rock concert, part performance art with a heavy dash of wackiness. We love it and I have a hard time understanding why people hate it (just because we love it so much). But people do, and that's something to consider when laying out a bunch of money.

That being said, if your husband really wants to go, I'd say just go into it with an open mind, and you might find some things about it that you enjoy!

I can tell you why I hated the show I saw. It was dark, depressing and didn't make any sense. The band was bad and the lead singer sounded like a dying cow. The songs were depressing and monotonous that they made The Cure look like a group of cheery, happy fellas. Obviously, I didn't make it to "the roof" what ever that meant.

I saw it in Vegas twice and loved it both times! It was so creative and well performed and the finale was like nothing I've ever experienced. I have heard that it's better to see it in the permanent locations rather than the tours. I couldn't imagine seeing the same show in a huge arena that wasn't specifically set up for it.

Yeah, the concert tour is very different from the stage shows, and I agree, not nearly as fun. So, I understand where you're coming from.

Yeah, the concert tour was all sorts of messed up. Not fun at all. We still get a good laugh about how bad it was. Not at all what I expected.

Now I haven't seen the stage shows and to be fair I've actually not heard anything bad about them. My cousins and their families go at least once a year in Chicago.

We saw it in Vegas a few years ago. It was total sensory overload! It was definitely different than anything I had ever seen, but I wouldn't go again. Icky goo and paper flying all over wasn't my idea of fun.

It sounds like something I would hate. I am glad to read others share my opinion. I was beginning to feel like an oddball with people raving about it all the time.

Dh, my 2 boys (ages 10 & 12 at the time) and I went in 2007. We took a trip to Disneyworld and popped over to Universal Studios for the day. They were playing there so DH got front row/center seats for us. We had a blast. Got to wear the ponchos and truly was a highlight. The boys enjoyed that better than Disney itself that year. Go figure!!!

We went about 10 years ago in Chicago and had a GREAT time. 2 years ago my grandma wanted to go (it was on her bucket list). She had a great time but I can tell you it was the SAME EXACT show as the first time we saw it. Seeing it was once was good. Won't go back again.
