We are thinking of going to see the Blue Man Group show in Aug. My sons said that they would rather go to this than La Nouba. Has anyone been to both shows and how do they compare? How far in advance do you need to buy tickets? Where is the show held? Also, I was wondering what section of seats is recommended for tickets. How is the poncho section? Are there any cons to this? Thanks for any advice.

I cannot speak for La Nouba, but we just went to BMG. It was awesome! I sort of knew what to expect from BMG, but they exceeded it by a long shot.

I bought tickets as soon as my dates went on sale, and got seats 2 rows behind the poncho section by my choice. Those seats are GREAT! I think the idea of a poncho is overrated, I'm not sure if any liquid entered the crowd.
We went on a Monday, and there were empty seats. But this was late April, my guess is that they go faster in the busy season.

The show is held in what's called the Sharp Aquios theater. The theater is just to the left of the entrance to Universal Studios, before you get to the Hard Rock Cafe.

The show is very casual; shorts, t-shirts and caps are fine. They even sell popcorn and snacks as if it were a movie.

Where did you buy the tickets from? The Universal Website, or is there a number to call on the phone? Is it easy to select which seats you want from website?

I just bought ours for August and also chose 2 rows behind the poncho section. I think they hold the first row behind the poncho section for handicapped. I bought mine online through AAA website and the discount I think was 10%. Very easy to do and very similiar to the Universal site. They have a seat map that you leave up to see where the seats are.

Good luck...I cant wait to see this. We are also going on a Monday Night.

I tried looking for tickets for the AAA website and it seems as the Tier 1 seats nearest to the stage are sold out for all of the dates I could go in August. Only the Tier 2 seats in Row M are available. I checked on Orlando website and there are seats available that are either 6 rows away from the stage or in the poncho area. Is it worth it to pay extra to be closer to the stage?

I've seen both shows, and there's no way to compare them. They are both wonderful, and both are COMPLETELY different! We saw the Blue Man Group on tour, so I can't help with the outlay of the theater at Universal, but I can tell you a little about the show. No spoilers, I promise. :)

The whole family will probably enjoy it very much. It's a happy adrenaline rush full of great music, great effects, lots of humor, and just all-around good entertainment. While your boys would probably think La Noube was pretty cool and appreciate the difficulty and artistry of the performances, they'll most likely leave Blue Man Group all pumped up saying, "THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!" Both shows have their own unique style that is truly wonderful. I love all the Cirque shows! But Blue Man Group is a show that pulls you into the excitement WITH the performers, as opposed to being a distant observer who is wowed by the performers at La Noube. For some reason, a contortionist seems more alien to me than some blue guys trying to figure the world out and playing great music while they do it. Until my kids are adults, I'd pick Blue Man Group for a family affair over La Noube.

Wow - I am surprised.....I had my pick of seats for any day I wanted. Dont take this the wrong way but are you sure there wasnt a drop down menu where you could choose the different areas/tiers because I think there was one when I ordered....and the "default" area/tier (the one that shows when the website comes up was NOT the best seats they had.....

I just tried again and on the ticket ordering menu there is a list of 3 choices (not drop down menu): Tier 1, Tier 2 and Poncho. I tried adding number of tickets I needed to either Tier 1 or Poncho and adding to cart, and get a message that these seats are sold out. But when I select Tier 2, there is availability. Did you book the tickets as soon as they went on sale? Maybe that's why you had better selection.
So, would you say it is worth the extra money to get seats in the front (6 rows back) as opposed to the back (row M at AAA discounted price)?

We had pre-booked La Nouba waaay in advance as it was a deffinate my mum.

However, on one of our Universal days we decided to just go along to the ticket booth and see if they had tickets for that night, they did!
We were on the second to last row and in someways being at the back was better.
There's not a bad seat anywhere in the place so don't worry if the seats aren't in your ideal location when you book.

They are un-comparable (not even sure if thats a word), and both amazing!
We both came out with huge smiles and were laughing at both shows for days after.

One thing to mention is that BMG is improvised in parts and so if theres something you'e seen on a commercial that you're expecting to see and it doesn't happen then don't be disappointed, they'll be something even better in its place!

For a teenager (being one myself) I'd recommend both, but for a boy then BMG might just top it.

Just prepare for the un-expected! ;)

Hi,I'm hoping that you all maybe able to help? I'm looking to book BMG tickets for our vacation in Sept but the US site is only offering tickets until the end of Aug & has been like that for over a month?Any idea when to expect Sept to come on sale? Thanks SD:thumbsup2

This was on the AAA website? Maybe you are right but I really thought I saw a drop down menu......

I cant help with the back rows and how good a seat they are....I actually have 6 rows from the front.

Hi, I just checked the AAA website for end of May and seems like you won't be able to see the row or seat choice. Only Tier 1, 2, etc......On the Orlando site, you can pick and choose IF you want a selection by the rows available. Am I doing something wrong, OR do you not have any say in what rows are offered through AAA. And ...how do you get your tickets--mail / email??? thanks. Also...anyone know how much a cab is from Disney hotel(POP).

Okay...

I ordered through AAA for the 3rd week of August last Monday. I was able to click on a seating chart and was able to pick my actual seats in a way similar to ticketmaster......it is under entertainment not travel....

I will try to link to the page...

http://ww2.aaa.com/scripts/WebObjec...&page=Universal&sessionRedirect=1210091665677

Does that work for you?

I received the hard tickets in the mail yesterday. I had the choice of will call or Universal mail and I chose Universal Mail.

On the AAA site, after you select the number of tickets in the category you want and add to cart, it will then tell you which row the seats are in. It gives 2 choices of sets of seats to buy. On the Orlando site you it gives you the selection of all the available rows first, before selecting tickets to add to cart.

Got it thanks so much..... I thought once I added it to the cart it would proceed to payments and I'd have no choices!! Appreciate it.

Thanks for all of your help.
I tried going to that link, but after entering my AAA card number it gives me an error saying that I entered a 212 club code, but am in the website for 097 club region. It seems like it is a regional thing, and maybe there are different websites specific to each region? On the main AAA website I couldn't find a section for entertainment, only for travel, so that is where I looked for the tickets (under Universal tickets). I am looking for tickets for the last week in August. I am still deciding whether to pay full price for the seats near the front, or AAA discounted seats in the back. Thanks again.

If the discount is only 10% go for the front. We've been to the Orlando show 6 times and we've sat in BB, AA and A and I enjoyed the show much more from the AA row. Which is the first one in the poncho section. We are going again this weekend and I got AA right once again. It's so close you can feel some of the effects. Plus it's intense, they are right there in your face. Love it!

As for comparison between BMG and La Nouba...I enjoyed La Nouba but I've only gone once, I have gone back to BMG 6 times now and I've got 4 more dates already purchased. My fiance disliked La Nouba but loved BMG.

I live in ga, and we use AAA SOUTH. Tickets can't be ordered online only picked up in certain parts of Florida. What :confused3

We would like to see The Blue Man Group show when we visit Universal in September and are considering the front row of the poncho section. How close are you to the stage, and how much higher is the stage than the actual seating? I'm worried about having to look up the whole time! I think sitting in the front might be good for my 8 year old son who is on the small side and can never see during shows because someone bigger always sits in front of him!! Thanks!!
