Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim vs Encounter

What is the difference between these two excersions? From what I can tell it seems that the only difference is that with the swim you get 30 minutes in the water with the dolphins and with the encounter you get 20. The extra 10 minutes costs about an additional $50 per person.

My teenaged son (16) wants to "swim" with the dolphins while hubby is out scuba diving in Nassau. Currently we are signed up for the swim, but I am wondering if it's worth the extra money vs. the encounter.

Any thoughts/opinions?

We did the encounter and it was great fun. Our interaction with the dolphin was outstanding. However, you are on a platform in waist-deep water and while you pet, play with, and feed the dolphin, you do not swim with it. There is a separate area for people on the swim, where you actually get in the water and swim with the dolphin. Looked like great fun.

We did the swim last May and really enjoyed it. For the swim you are wearing a life jacket and floating in deep water. It seems like we did a lot of the same interactions as the encounter- the kiss, dancing, etc. However, at the end of the encounter, we went one by one for a foot push. This is where you lie face down in the water with your arms out. The dolphins position themsleves at your feet and push you. Then you arch your back upward, so it's like something you see at a marine park. It was really cool. :goodvibes

Well, it sounds like I signed up for the right excersion. DS definately wants to be swimming with the dolphin and that plus parasailing are only excersions he expressed any interest in.

In Jan our two excursions were the dolphin swim and para-sailing as well:thumbsup2

We loved them both! With the swim you are truly swimming with the dolphins as you are in the deep water and the "push" is a once in a lifetime experience.
Check out the blue lagoon website for more info and photos

Para-sailing also was AMAZING

Your DS will have a blast

Thanks for the reviews. DS is really looking forward to both. Now if only he could also do a single waver runner on CC he'd be in heaven- he keeps going back and forth about doing a double so I haven't booked this one yet. Will proably wait until closer to sailing or even book on the boat.

Hi all,

We wanted to book the Blue Lagoon Beach Day excursion and now it is sold out up with DCL. Has anyone booked the day with another tour group? I am kind of scared that it won't drop us back off at the ship on time. Are they trustworthy?

Also, are you able to spend some time on the beach if you book the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim or Encounter through DCL?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes if you do the swim or the encounter you can stay and do the beach to. Our swim met on board at 9:30 for a 10:30ish swim. We could leave Blue Lagoon at 1:00 2:00 or 4:30

Thank you.

Do they ever re-open the excursions if there is an opening or is it pretty much closed?
