We managed to get in to see the Passport Holder preview for the new Blue Horizons show at SW last weekend, and it is an absolute stunner. It is the first show we have seen at any of the parks (apart from La Nouba - which doesn't count as the parks!) that earned a standing ovation at the end.

The combination of vivid staging, original music, theatrical elements, high-diving stunts and superb animal interaction (up to 6 dolphins at a time and 2 false killer whales) makes for a scintillating spectacle, and you will probably need to see it more than once to take in all the elements involved, many of which are happening in different parts of the theatre at once.

The basic premise is of a girl's dream of the creatures of the sea and sky, and how it all comes together, sometimes in abstract form, sometimes in obvious animal interaction. The musical score is a real highlight, but then so are some of the stunts involving the dolphins and the high-divers, while there are also trapeze artists, high-flyers, acrobats and more. It all adds up to a novel and hugely entertaining 25 minutes and puts it among the first rank of park shows.

Blue Horizons, now open - don't miss it!

I heard part of the score on the website--impressive. Do you know if it can be purchased somewhere yet?

I didn't notice it for sale anywhere, but I did see a CD for the Mistify score, so I would be surprised if it isn't available soon. Seeing as how it is their own original score, written expressly for them, I'm sure they will make use of it.

I also saw the Horizons show last week at 11am. I was appreciative becasue I would have been disappointed if I didn't get to see ANY dolphin show (there regular one was not running) I like the show, but to me, it was not a dolphin show. I was most intriqued by the use of birds in the show.

Yesterday we saw shows for 10:45am, 12 something, 2:30, 4:15 and 6pm. Although the 4:15 got CX'd and the 6pm Delayed due to storms. All the shows filled up FAST yesterday... so my advice get there early. BH yesterday was filled for the morning show well before show time.

This is one of the best theme park shows I've seen. Second only to Fatasmic in my book (definitely makes up for Mistify.)

They're obviously still ironing out some kinks in this show -- not surprising given how complex it is!

On Friday, one show was cancelled and at the 6:15 show there was a glitch with the safety rigging for one performer. I was sitting next to a tech crew for the show, including the stage manager (who was "calling" the show from the audience), the head trainer and some performers who were waving to their fellow aerialists in the show.

Blue Horizons is "Flipper Meets Cirque du Soleil" and it's great!

COOOLLL! To know that it is open and that is such a good show. My boyfriend & I will be there in July... :goodvibes
