Blue Bayou

Soooooo.... please don't flame me. But....... the Blue bayou was not very good this week. My chicken was DRY and flavorless. My son's beef loin was soooo salty, he couldn't stand it. And, my husband's monte cristo was so very greasy. It kind of tasted like rancid grease. In fact, we had another one at Cafe Orleans and it was delish. So, I'm not sure what the deal was with that.

And, we were seated by the restroom. So, we didn't even get the benefit of the ambiance. We'll probably skip it next year and just go to Cafe Orleans instead.

I ate there in December, and the food was good, but we were seated by the restroom as well, and it really wasn't worth $30/plate for the experience. We decided we'd go again and just get dessert, and ask to be seated by the water. The waitress did tell us we could ask to be seated there, we would just have to wait a bit longer. But now the desserts are boring, so its not even worth it for that.

No flames from me...we are done with Blue Bayou unless they seriously step up their game. I really want it to be better, but it just doesn't ever seem to be our experience.

We had the opposite experience. We tried Cafe Orleans and will not go back, but we loved the Blue Bayou! And, I'm a foodie – so I'm not easily impressed.

Also, we asked for a water front table. We were told it might take up to 30 minutes past our reservation time and we said that was fine. However, we were seated in 10 minutes.

This was my first and only time at either of these establishments, but I was very happy with the Blue Bayou.

I guess you never know!

I'm trying it again this trip, but on my only other we had a horrible experience. When our waiter charged our card it was for the wrong table's bill. When he changed it he over charged us by $200. At some point he had run it through so many times that it wouldn't take it anymore. Instead of comping our meal they basically held us hostage for an hour while they figured it out. It was ridiculous.

That trip was with my sister and her daughter for my niece's HS graduation. Going with my own girls and my fiance and I'm hoping we have a better experience. I usually do DW and this will be my girls' first trip to DL. I know that the dining is something that they will miss and I want one really cool Disney meal for them. Surely that had to be a fluke. No business is that messed up.

We just came back from Disneyland and I didn't care for my meal either. My short ribs were too salty and I didn't care for the potatoes. The best thing I had was the Gumbo. (I actually loved the Gumbo).

MickeyBA – We did enjoy the Blue Bayou, but we loved Ariel's Grotto! You might consider that for your trip? The food was really good, and sitting on the patio was sublime. And, you get the preferred dinning WOC tickets taboot! If you are looking for one special place – this is a very good option IMO.

Thanks! We are also doing Ariels for a WOC dinner. And I chose the patio! I'm glad you liked it!!!!! I did that last time with the princesses and the food was just ok, but the choices look better. I don't have a character meal yet. I kinda feel like we need to do one. Any favorites. I also HAVE to do carnation for breakfast! Yummy. I did that about 4 times with my sister!

The cioppino at Ariel's is probably the best thing I've had in a publicly accessible restaurant at Disney.

We took my parents for their first visit. Hubby and my parents all ordered the Monte Cristo and ooooo'd and ahhhhh'd the entire time about how good it was. I had the chicken which was delicious as always and the potatoes are always to die for.

Our waitress was wonderful - she kept bringing drink refills and was very attentive.

I think tha's my problem. I'm a serious foodie, and I'm comparing the food to fine dining establishments in the real world. It just doesn't compare.

We were quoted 45 minutes on a waterfront table. Yet, when we were seated there was one available that sat unused for at least 20 minutes. Weird.

I'm with you. We ate there in June and the food was not great. We did get a seat by the water as I requested.

It was the family's first trip to Disneyland together and my husband wanted us to eat there since he said he had such a nice experience a few months before.
Even he was disappointed in June.

I don't know when I'll be going back to Disneyland but I know I won't be returning to the Blue Bayou when I go.

They are refurbishing Pirates, so Blue Bayou closes by default. I haven't seen anything indicating a BB revamp.

Honestly..we got to go to the BB for free when we won the Dream Suite. It was a total dream come true for me. It was rushed, so that sorta sucked...the meal was good. But this was 3 years ago. I'm not sure I could swallow paying what Disney gifted us. I have ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted to eat there...but eating the food (which was 'eh') and trying to decide if we'd pay that much? We'd wanted to do the dessert thing but I'm pretty sure they changed the menu to stop that.

We did the BB once, and that will be the last time. The food was not worth the value, and I wasn't all that impressed. I was more impressed with Ariel's Grotto, although I think that too, was not the best value.
Disney food is really hit and miss for me. Sometimes it's like cafeteria food and other times it's pretty good.

I know. Just another reason why I was disappointed. Seems like there is zero consistency coming out of that ONE kitchen.

I went to both Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans last year. BB was so not worth the price, IMHO, but you have to do it at least once. Cafe Orleans was excellent though, and I am looking forward to going back at the end of this month!
