Split plate fee means split plate fee. They should split it in the kitchen for you, you should both get all the sides and the starters. You can both chose different starters too, ie, you can get the salad (which is so good) and dh can get the soup/gumbo (which is also really good). That's what DBF and I do, even if we don't share a plate we still share the starters. :) You can have an appetizer as a meal, just let them know to bring it out when the rest of the meals come out, you won't get sides but you can order a salad or cup of soup/gumbo. There is a $4 charge and if you get an empty plate like the PP you should send it back and ask for the sides you are supposed to get. :)
No dessert menu for kids, but there is plenty to share with the cookie boat. The sail is edible but it's not tasty, save it instead, it makes a neat souvie. :) I've never had the mint julep, I'm not a fan, but they do have good iced tea, it's not sweet tea but it is a "dirty" tea and it's really good. If you want it sweet just add your own sugar. :)

I just noticed ;) that there is a difference in price for the split plate charge, $4.00 for lunch, $4.99 for dinner. Interesting, but hopefully all will be tasty! :)

My dd16 and I split the Tesoro Chicken plate. They brought me a plate full of food and my dd an empty plate. I split it between the two of us. We did, however, both get the wedge salad.

I thought that was kind of weird, I paid $4.00 for an empty plate?? I was ok with not getting more food (as some had mentioned, and typically you do) we had plenty, I just thought it was kind of odd.

By the way, the chicken was good, but the potatoes??? OH MY GOSH, they were YUMMY!!

That's awful! Very rude of them, and doesn't go along with what we have experienced or were specifically told. Definitely have a chat with a manager if it ever happens again.

I agree that is very rude indeed! it would not be so bad, if the child was much younger, but she is a young woman, geese! not to mention, how well can one split a chicken, and at their table no less, without making a bit of a mess?

Well, I had no idea that that wasn't normal, however, I found it to be very strange! Now that I know that isn't the "right way" I would say something.

It's a good thing we ate plenty of the bread before our dinner. The chicken was easy to split, it was very tender...there were definatly NOT enough of the potatoes to split though....I tried VERY hard not to be too stingy...I think it worked! :rotfl2:

We both had plenty, but still overall, it was weird....didn't ruin our lunch or anything and we would definatly go back!

I had that chicken dish last April, it was very tasty. On the subject of buns, I only had one, as did my friend, that is all that had been served to us, nor were anymore asked to be served, and frankly I would have liked just one more, I was going to ask, but then I decided not to, I can't remember exactly why at this time, probably for some dumb reason. ;)

Just wanted to note that these prices are old. On the girls getaway trip in April we all noted how the costs had gone up. I had the portabello mushroom and couscous dish it was 31.99 and that was at lunch. I don't remember the rest of the prices. Just wanted to let you all know to expect higher prices.

Thank you for letting us know, I had been under the assumption that the prices were correct, since the site that I was using for the information is normally reliable. That is what I get for assuming, the dishs are probably all the same, though, so I like to think, and the dates for the menus, were dated 2007, that was the latest update, I will have to search for the new menus.

My DW and I ate lunch there yesterday and we each had the Prime Rib, which was $33.99 each. The Flying Dutchman was not on the menu, but we asked and our server brought it to us, cost was $8.99.

Portabello dish just over a week ago, on the 26th for DS's birthday lunch, was 27.99. Plus the 4 buck split plate fee.

dlresortinfo dotcom has the right prices compared to my receipt for the portabello lunch, and it's dated 10/07. The woman who runs the site updated just after prices went up last September; allears has an April date for BB.

So I don't know what's up with the 31.99 you were charged!!!!

Thank you for that link, I swear I was looking at and clicking upon every darn link from google regarding that subject, only to find really nothing that I was looking for, the date on the bb menu from allearsnet is dated April 2007, so that explains alot. ;)

We ate dinner at Blue Bayou on Saturday(6-7-08) and it was just okay. The service was average as was the food. We had a table closest to the entry doors, but I didn't want to wait for anything closer. There was nothing bad about the experience, just nothing great. Our best meal was dinner at Storyteller's! Everything there exceeded my expectations!

I was just wondering what you and your company had for dinner?
It is a bit scary when the prices go up, but the quality of food continues to operate upon a roller coaster type of method.

I know that this was not directed at me, but I do want to say that the prime ribe we had was fantastic. I know my wife's was because I ate what she could not. The potatoes were great as well.

For the money, it was nice to do once. The only reason we went was because we were celebrating our 5th anniversary and DW wanted to try it. I doubt we will go again only because of the prices.

The prime rib is definitely one of their safe items. I would describe it as very good, not fantastic (sorry, I live in the southwest and can find much better prime rib here for half the cost of BB). I'm not trying to talk people out of BB. I love the atmosphere and when I can afford it, have done it. But, we skipped it this trip and it wasn't missed especially given the quality of the one high end meal that we opted for at Ralph Brennan's. That was great and cost less than BB does.

So this higher price for the portabello dish thing is bugging me. And I started thinking that the April time might have still been in official Spring Break time.

A lot has been said about the higher "holiday" pricing, and I wonder if April was in that time? Because I have the receipt right here (I keep all receipts) showing the 27.99 for the same dish, but not during a Spring Break OR Summer month (in between holiday times).

i've got to do my trip report! we had the best vacation in disneyland and so. california. we had our lunch @ BB @ 11:30 and i did what all of you said and checked in around 11:15, and asked for a water table. we got the table but POTC was down so no boats were passing by but we loved the atmosphere!! our dd ordered the PB & J cristo and my dh and i did the split plate and ordered the crabcakes that were out of this world!!! i loved the mango and avocado. we split the monte cristo and we both loved it!! BB did not disappoint!! thanks for all the input! we also did WCT @ dca and watched the parade go by and my dh said it was perfect planning!!:) oh, our ticket for BB came to w/tip $52.00.

Were you there on Wed. last week at 11:30? We were to and sat by the water but no pirates.
