Blue Bayou

Kerri,

Neptunes, upstairs, at Pier 39, near the edge of the San Francisco Bay, the views are wonderful, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the annual guest sea lions, at K dock.

Nunzia,

The creme brulee was very tasty,it was last April when I had ordered it. It
most likely is just as tasty today, as well, I hope.

Tortuga Trio of Creme Brulee - Chocolate, passion fruit and vanilla-bean custards, caramelized and served with Brittany cookies $7.99

Each treasured treat comes with a "Pirates" booty keepsake!

A most delicious trio indeed!

Thank You! I will file that away for a romantic adults only dinner for myself and DBF. It sounds great! :)

We ate there last June, was lucky to get a water table with very little wait (I'd say 5 minutes).

The food was good, we had all the steak. Service was just "okay". Kinda slow, especially at the end, and for drink refills.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere though, it was nice. Even though the ride was down, and no boats were going by. We want to try it again someday, and hopefully this time the ride will be working. We don't plan on doing it this trip though.

Questions about the Blue Bayou

What would be the best time to make a dessert only PS? What time does it close?

And.... if we had lunch there, would they be able to make me the cheese only Monte Cristo? I did not see it on the menu, but know it is served at Cafe Orleans... I believe...

Thanks!

:dance3: :dance3:

We've only been once. I read a bunch of negative reviews here, but we went anyway on Thanksgiving day. DH had the traditional T-day meal, I had the prime rib, I think. Some sort of cow - not really up on names. Our meals were wonderful and so was our server. I really want to go there again someday!!!!

Here's our dessert from BB

ScrapperKimmyD, that creme brulee looks fan friggin' tastic! Holy cow! I just ate lunch and I'm stuffed, but I could totally devour that right now..

They made a hidden mickey with the dishes too! See that!! :magnify:

tofubeast,

The information that you seek, can be found here:

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/dining/detail?name=BlueBayouDiningPage&bhcp=1

the Blue Bayou's hours of operation, coincide with the parks hours, so therefore will vary, depending upon the season.

Lunch only:
Le Special de Monte Cristo - Turkey, ham and Swiss cheese in a battered egg bread, lightly fried to a golden brown. Choice of two sides: Blue Bayou potatoes, seasonal vegetables or sautéed spinach. $18.99

I don't see any good reason, why a simple request such as yours, could not be accommodated. If I order that dish, it will be without the ham, I like ham, I just am not a big pork eater, thats all.
Last April, I made my reservation for two, three days in advance, no problem, however, seating was limited. So I figure, it all depends upon the season, to which you plan on visiting, however, just to play it safe, I would PS, as soon as I knew when I was going to be interested in dining there, even if it is a dessert only reservation.
They do accept walk up reservations, too, however the wait time, can be extremely long, and one might not be able to be accommodated for that day,
that is why I make ressies.

Ya know......I gotta say, the last time we went to the BB, I was VERY disappointed with the food. We both had the seafood jambalaya. Not only was it ridiculously hot (and I really like spicy food) but I felt that for $26, I was kinda cheated. I fully expect to pay more than I normally would when I’m at DL but all that came with the spicy rice (mixed with some sausage and a little bit of chicken) was 2 prawns, 2 square chunks of fish (about 1" x 1") and the most anemic looking halved king crab leg I have every seen. Very disappointed....but maybe I was expecting too much. :(

Would I eat there again? You bet........the atmosphere is second to none, but I think I'd stick with just an appie and maybe dessert next time.

I am sorry to hear that, :( you should have complained, and asked for a different dish.
In my opinion, you were not expecting too much, for that dish cost almost $30.00, not inexpensive at all. You should have been nicely satisfied with your order, but instead, it left something of a bad taste in your mouth, but yet you were still required to pay full price, that is why I say, you should have said something about it, let me tell you, if I really do not like something, it is but an extremely rare occasion, that I do not state my sentiments regarding the issue. Sometimes, I will be criticized for my comments, however, if it is important to me to state them, then so what to those that do not want to hear it! and that includes Disney! So next time, take a stand!

I too have had a bad experience there with a dish - the fish tasted really strange, like it was bad - so I told my server and she changed it for me to the chicken (no extra charge of course!).

On another note, I am having lunch at the BB with a group of 8 but for some reason we couldn't make PS's for 8 people although there were numerous times available when we asked for 2 groups of 4 (which couldn't be done at once, or under the same name!). I thought this was so strange!

I am glad that you did not pay for a bad dish, congrats to you for speaking up! :) I too, find that rather strange, for what is wrong with making reservations under the same name for two groups of four each? does this have something to do with terrorist groups? or protesters? anyway, just weird! I agree!

One good tip is to get there at least 30 min before your reservation time and
ask for a table by the water. If you go there earlier, they can do it for you :)

My fiancee and I ate there the past two years and had a great time each time.
For dessert the last time we had the flying dutchman. SOOO goood.

Yum! indeed it appears to be! :) I wonder if the white chocolate sail can be saved? as in a souvenir, or would it become too messy? anybody save theirs?
:)

I would go to eat at the BB for every trip (even our latest to Tokyo Disney). I just love the environment and I actually think that the food is good and that the cost isn't too bad given the portion size. We went there for our anniversary and I got an anniversary Disney pin...we got a free desert!!

Haven't yet gotten a good view of the "water" as I didn't think to ask for our anniversary but it is worth asking for.

I am thinking of making a dessert PS for BB. Any advice on what time? Will it be completely insane with people waiting for Fantasmic outside? Does the restaurant stay crowded up till its closing?
