Blue Bayou with Kids?

Thank you everyone! My kid's are torn...lol. I would love to do character AND BB but they are getting a day at Universal too :). I have asked them to really think about it but also told them they would see characters in the park. I have also assured my daughter there will be other buffets :rotfl2: She loves buffets!
I think they are leaning towards BB and I think I will go with an early sitting to hopefull get that waterside table.

Our first visit the girls were 6 & 9, we ate at BB and they LOVED it!!! We ate there many more times over the years of having AP's and they loved it every time. They both prefer the food from the kids menu and they loved the Pirate Punch (raspberry lemonade iirc) and later the glow cubes. When we talk about DLR now they still talk about the BB. I'd do it, we liked lunch time better (because it's bright outside but dark inside and then bright outside again lol) and we liked to get the 11:30 reservation time so we could get that highly prized waterside table. :)

pixiewings- is the 11:30 time typically slower? I want to get a waterside table this time. Hubby and I were in the back corner by the kitchen :( I enjoyed it still but my kids not as much.

The 11:30 seating is the first for the day. Get there about 11am, and request a waterside table. If you don't ask, you are unlikely to get it. Usually, they tell you it will be a heck of a wait--30 to 45+ minutes--but we've never waited long!

Another vote for BB. We took our then 4-yr-old and 6-yr-old there two years ago, were seated far from the water, but our kids loved it. I asked our server to please tell Princess Tiana in the kitchen that her gumbo was just fabulous. The server didn't miss a beat and promptly went back to tell Miss Tiana then she came back with a copy of the recipe as a thank you.

My kids are now 6 1/2 and 8 1/2 and they talk about it every time the subject of Disneyland comes up.

What's the policy on ordering from the Kids Menu? What are the ages? Do they charge extra if over the age?

I want to visit on our trip next month, but the palettes of my siblings are a little restrictive, and they'd prefer the macaroni over anything on the adult menu.

We were just there last night and they said kids 12 and under could do the kids menu. My kids loved it.

Another option to get the experience without the full cost / time is to just go for dessert. When we went I knew the kids wouldn't really like any of the meals, so we just booked a table for 3.30pm, and just ordered dessert. Still bought the kids a drink with the glow cube which they loved and had a dessert each. About $8 each so a cheaper option and they still loved the experience and seeing the boats go past (we got a waterside table too).
