First Thread!! Tee hee!:upsidedow

I'm going back to DLR (finally!) April 20th-23rd and am celebrating my 20th birthday!!! I am torn between making PS for BB of GK. I want opinions, I'm going with my two bffs and want to know if GK is adult friendly- will we be the only childless adults there?:rolleyes1 I also which one has more bang for the buck, better quality of food, atmosphere, price? (pre-med students aren't often known for their wealth  ) I appreciate any and all opinions.

Thanks!:goodvibes

Blue Bayou is a sit down, wait on you, fancy restaurant with pretend gourmet dining. It is a very nice place for a bunch of adults to celebrate in a grown up fancy restaurant.

Goofy's Kitchen is adult friendly and I did Ariel's alone. All the restaurants are adult friendly. Slightly cheaper and you get all you can eat buffet and desserts.

Do you want to meet characters and act like a kid while pigging out or do you want a nice quiet themed restaurant that will serve you dinner and make you feel like you are in a 3 star fancy restaurant for grown ups.

I've met many characters on solo trips and never had a problem, so don't worry about that. Many people say that the character CMs really enjoy meeting with adults who can appreciate just how hard the CM has worked to "become" the character.

As for cost, both GK and Blue Bayou are expensive. GK is a buffet, so the price is set around $30 per adult. Blue Bayou cost me a little over $30 and I had water to drink, as well as passing on an appetizer and dessert(and reflected my AP discount). This was plenty of food(and indeed why I skipped dessert).

I've never eaten at GK, but I can't imagine that it has a better atmosphere than Blue Bayou, which is inside POTC, so you can see the boats go by and it feels like you're under the stars.

Wow talk about 2 totally different dining experiences!! We did both this trip (last week). Goofy's Kitchen is a fun character meal, with food choices galore. The characters are playful & if you don't mind doing the buffet & depending on appetites, you can get your money's worth out of it. The Blue Bayou is dimly lit & you watch the POTC boats float by. The food is fantastic but expensive. My hubby & I did our anniversary dinner there. We shared an appetizer, a dinner & a dessert, got 2 drinks (soda) & with our AP disc. still paid about $70. I found this place relaxing.

So its up to you....want fun, chaotic at times, buffet & characters -OR- quiet, more intimate, sit down service?

Both are great choices!!

2 completely different experiences. I'd go with BB because we did GK and we were not impressed. Food was just OK (except the bacon which was so good!) and hardly any character interaction, and we had 2 kids 8 & 11 at the time.

Personally, I prefer Storyteller's at GC for buffet dinner and Napa Rose for elegant dining.

Given the choices though, I'd still pick BB over GK. You probably won't feel too weird with the Character dining and no kids at GK, but when I'm at with a group of adults, I prefer the company more than watching the characters walk around the room.

I personally prefer Goofy's Kitchen, but only you know what your group would prefer.:goodvibes My friends and I are all adults with no kids and we go to Goofy's with no problem at all. It is fun, the food is plentiful and tasty - good quality and variety overall; fun mood; playful characters. I am not a big Blue Bayou fan, but it's more of a personal preference. I like the mood and the ambience there, but the food is not for me. I don't like anything on the menu enough to pay that kind of money, whereas at the Goofy's buffet, there are tons of choices.

But I think if you guys want a nice, quiet, 'adult' dinner without characters attacking you at your table in between bites of food, you probably want to go with Blue Bayou!

I don't really care for the food at BB. I go only for the atmosphere, and even then it's always with someone who hasn't been there. I don't know anyone who feels the need to go back to BB.

But Goofy's is a stop on almost every trip. We love it there whether traveling with the kids or not. The food has been consistently good for us. I do prefer brunch over dinner, but dinner is still very good.

Wow, thanks guys. I think I'm gonna go with BB, I have always really wanted to go there and maybe GK next time, good excuse to come back! ;) Too bad we can't do both.

One thing I would suggest to you is that you and your BFFs would enjoy going over to the Grand Californian Hotel, after your park experience, getting a non-alcoholic version of a drink from the Hearthstone Bar and curling up in front of their oversized fireplace. It's a great place to sit and reflect on the day and toast to your birthday!

Another option is to go to the lounge at the Napa Rose and get dessert and a cappucino. That would be the creme de la creme to finish your birthday..
