Blue Bayou table by the water?

I was able to score last minute reservations for a 2:10 pm lunch at BB for our trip on 9/12 as a special treat for my sons birthday. We have never been there before and due their prices may never get the chance again. With that being said I would really love to get a table by the water. If anyone has any advice on how to do this I would be so grateful. Thank you.

Ask for one when you check in. They will tell you the wait will be longer, up to 30 minutes. We have waited anywhere from 15-40 minutes for a waterside table.

To add to the answer given above, check in early, in person, and tell the check-in host that you would really like a waterside table. They will usually look doubtful and give you a long wait time (typically, I'm told 40 min), but just say ok. It sometimes does take that long, but usually it's shorter.

Yep, as Cheri stated, get there early WITH a reservation, ask to wait for water-side.
I forgot to mention that we did this in July. We were in the area so we went up to the host about 30 min prior to our reservation time. I think it was too early to officially check in, but we made our request and they said they would text us when it was ready. I think it did take about 40 min but that was only a little past our actual reservation time. Getting texted when it's ready is really nice.

I honestly don't want to dine non-waterside. I may be spoiled, but the experience JUST IS NOT THERE absent waterside.

Matt, I'm spoiled as well. IMO, it's mostly what I'm paying for. I mean, I like the food ok, but it's the atmosphere that brings me in. I really feel sorry for those people sitting farthest from the water. I think they should get a hefty discount.

I guess I shouldn't say that, because in Disney minds that means charging the same but adding an upcharge to each level closer to the water!

Does Blue Bayou seem lighter to anyone else lately? The last 3 times we've gone (granted - this was several months ago), I could see the light from outside when I didn't used to before all the way at our waterside table. I kind of wish it were a bit darker like it used to be, now it seems more like dusk than night!

We were there last week and got a great table. I would recommend the following which worked for us:
Check in online. When you do, you have the option to select "special celebrations" or something like that and you can tick options for a birthday and first visit.
Check in again upon arrival with the Maître D and left them know your whole party is ready and would like a water side table and don't mind waiting.
We were advised of the standard '30 minutes' and said no problem. In less than 10 minutes we were seated at an amazing table and when they seated us they remarked that it's a great first time visit table. Like other's have noted for us it was truly waterside or bust and I was prepared to wait. If you have the flexibility it will be worth your time.

The only thing I will say about this is that I hope people will not say 'birthday' and/or 'first visit' if it's not true. I know it is in your case, and it's a good thing to use if it's the truth.

Exactly. Waterside prices should be double what the diners pay sitting by the bathroom.

I have reservations for a party of 7 on September 14th at 11:20 am. Do you think there's any chance at all that we could get waterside with this many people? It will be a first visit for my niece and nephew and my MIL's birthday but that seems like a heap of folks to get seated that close.

It's possible, but you will most likely have a bit of a wait. We were sat waterside with 8 people (7 adults, 1 toddler in a highchair).

I agree; there are limited options for parties that large, but there are a few. You can get a table that's very close, though, and still have a pretty nice view just one back from "waterside".

Agree. Just ask and wait. Walk ups are the only ones who have a low chance over reservation guesrs.
