This is my first time eating at Blue Bayou and I have a few questions.

Is there a dress code? :jester:

Is there anything to watch out for on the menu good or bad?

How does one get to the entrance?

As for flash photography, what are the rules concerning that?

Is there a best seat in the house and where is IYO the best place to be seated? :sail:

Thanks for the answers guys!

There is no dress code. If you can get into the park, you can get into BB

It's all good.

How does one get to the entrance?

It's on Bourbon St in New Orleans Square, to the right of the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean.

No rules. It's the only way you can have your photo taken inside.

On the water.

DH and I love the Monte Cristo sandwich, which is their specialty -- but it's very rich and very heavy for just one person. We usually order one, and something else -- pasta, or a large entree salad, etc -- and split both items.

It used to be that eating at lunchtime was a much better price, about $10 cheaper on the average, but I heard that there isn't much difference between the lunch and dinner menu prices now. Can anyone confirm that?

I adore the Jambalaya! Nice, hot & spicy, just enough heat not to burn up your mouth! The Monte Cristo is huge, but tasty.

We always make the latest lunchtime ADR that we can. It's cheaper than dinner and I think has a few different options and it is not as busy. We get an early snack/lunch around 11:00 to tide us over. It's also easier to get a table by the water at that time, too. We were told we'd have to wait an additional 20 minutes, but it ended up being more like five.

It was VERY dark there the last time we ate there and I wished we had a mini flashlight with us to help us read the menus. The most obnoxious part was the frequency of guests the POTC ride taking flash photos of the BB while they floated by - the contrast of the extreme dark to the bright flashes was not fun. But that's the only negative I have to say about the place! It's our favorite TS meal in Disneyland.

My favorite are the Monte Cristo sandwiches. That is what Blue Bayou is known for. There crab cakes and jambalaya are also phenomenal. Try to ask for a water view if you can get it. The entrance is easy to find. Look for the mob of people milling around in Liberty Square :rotfl2: Enjoy! I always go there when we go to DLR.

There is no Liberty Square in DLR, only WDW. It's New Orleans Square in DLR. I spent my college summers working there. Occasionally I worked in the perfume shop or the One of a Kind Shop (both now history) but I normally worked in the Pieces of Eight Shop (aka the Pirate Shop) at the exit to POTC.

Yo ho yo ho! pirate:

Sadly, I just saw some updated menus on MouseInfo and it looks like the lunch menu is very expensive now -- $18.99 for the Monte Cristo (that's a lot for a sandwich!) up to $29.99 for the Prime Rib (didn't used to be served at lunch). Cafe Orleans or the Riverbelle Terrace is starting to look like our New Orleans Square dining destination now -- Cafe Orleans has the Monte Cristo for $14.99 (traditional, or an all cheese version that looks good), and they have a three cheese Monte Cristo French Toast for breakfast that looks intriguing, too. Could split that and an order of beignets w/DH and we'd both be quite happy :goodvibes

I can tell you that for lunch, for 5 adults in November 2005, the total bill came to around $150. Not insanely expensive, but definitely not cheap, either... just be aware going into it. Personally, I think it's worth every penny! :thumbsup2

We loved it too...but the lunch price has just recently increased. Rather dramatically. According to the menus on MouseInfo (just updated this month), the lunch prices now are more expensive than the dinner prices used to be -- and there used to be about a $10 per person difference between the lunch and dinner menus. Don't know if I can bring myself to pay $19 for a sandwich, no matter how good it is -- especially since I can get the same sandwich for $4 less at another venue (and it's still overpriced there!) But yes, the atmosphere at the BB is lovely...

My mom and I ate there in 2006, and we split crab cakes, Buccaneers short ribs, and the cookie boat dessert. There was more than enough for both of us by splitting!!!

Btw, for pictures, just click on the dining review link in my signature
