Any feedback on the Tesora Chicken or the Portobello Mushroom dishes?
Good or bad? Pictures would be fantastic, I'm a bit hungry as it is. popcorn::

I have eaten both and they were nothing special but good. You will find others that thought they were baddddddd.
Hope you can get some ideas.

Did you like one more over the other? I just want to try something different this time. I really didn't care for BB Monte Cristo.

My wife is vegetarian and when we went she wouldn't touch the mushroom. I tried it and it also had a weird taste to me. She isn't a big mushroom person, but I usually love it. We both wish the park had more veggie options, but c'est la vie!

Dh and I split the Buccaneer's Beef Short Ribs when we went, and we both thought they were delicious!

:goodvibes

Hubby and I split the portobello dish. He liked it, says it was "nice and savory". I had a harder time with it, but that was very likely MY fault. They make the plates pretty with a vinegar decoration, and me being me and loving condiments, smeared everything all around together, thereby making my entire dish taste of nothing but vinegar! Ack! If I hadn't done that I'm sure it would have been better for my taste buds. :)

It's a huge plate; DH and I split it and were both absolutely stuffed, especially since we each got our own wedge salad with the split plate fee.

I can't say personally but my friend tried the Tesora Chicken. She said it seemed greasy to her but she also said it was probably because she doesn't like dark meat. Wish I could offer a better opinion. :guilty:

I've had the Monte Cristo, the Rib Eye, the fish and the chicken. I liked the chicken a lot....didn't seem overly greasy to me and I'm uber picky about grease. I thought it was really good.

I just wish they would make a meal out of the wedge salad. I LOVE that thing!

mmmmmmmmm me too!! I thought about requesting just that last time but decided I really *needed* the Monte Cristo! LOL One of these days we will go and just share our meal and I'll eat both of our salads. LOL Except DBF really loves the gumbo so that probably wouldn't work.

What a great idea!!!! I'm just worried I wont' have room for the Flying Dutchman cookie boat afterwards. I may have to encourage DBF to get the prime rib again (aka cow mooing on plate) I'll down the salads and have PLENTY of room for the Dessert!

We like the pork chops with apples in sauce and potatoes with a couple veggies. Not bad for inside the park and of course the atmosphere and service is great.

My best advice for BB is to split a plate between two people; they will do it and charge you $4.00 but it is much cheaper than ordering two entrees per two adults. Plus if you hate it you won't feel as bad. The portions are relatively large, this is what me and my gal do.

The deserts are honestly not very good, you can get better fare around the park. However if you are a big Pirates fan you might want to check out their desert menu for their unique 'not really edible' edibles.

not really edible edibles? What are those? I don't remember seeing anything like that on the menu last year.

I think doom means the sail on the cookie boat, the chests on the other dessert. They are on your plate so they ARE edible, but it's not really recommended for taste purposes. :)

I dunno, I've heard that cookie boat is really good! I'm just not planning on gnawing on the sail.

It's not that edible. We tried it just because it said you could eat it but it was not tasty and not easy to eat. LOL It was hard! LOL The rest of the cookie boat was super good though!!

Ok, now I want BB this weekend! LOL

Does anyone have any pictures of Blue Bayou? This is a restaurant that DH and I are thinking of eating at. It will be our first trip so we want to try to hit the best restaurants or ones unique to DL. Is Blue Bayou good? Would you eat there? Like I said, if anyone has any pictures, that would be great.

I LOVE the Blue Bayou....service is wonderful, the food is pretty good and the view, well you just can't beat the view. We make sure to go at least once while we're there. We prefer lunch....it's cheaper for one, that's the only time you'll see their famous Monte Cristo on the menu and it's so dark in there anyway you don't know it's daytime anyway. Definitely call disney dining to book your reservations. You can request waterside but still check in early when you get there, it's all based on availibility so you might have to way. Our reservations are for 11:30 this wednesday. We're the first spot ones on the list when they open requesting waterside so we're pretty much guaranteed it this time since that's when they open. Last year our reservations were for 1 and we were told it could be a 45 minute wait for waterside. With a VERY hungry 3 year old we couldn't wait so we took first available. Great experience but still waterside is much more fun.
As for pictures, like I said it's pretty dark in there so pictures are kinda hard to come by. I'm sure some others may have better pictures. But here's one that I do have. I didn't want to go crazy with my camera since the flash has that "ruin the ride" affect here too.

I finally got to go to BB on this last trip and I have to say I was slightly disappointed. The food was good - I ordered jambalya (good grief I can't spell) and it was spicy. I loved it! Our waiter was nice. But I felt that the menu was too short and I'm still in disbelief that I paid $8 for dd to eat a crustable!!!!!!!! The crustable was the only option after hearing horror stories from disers about the mac n cheese and chicken. I have to say I won't be going back. But that's because I don't feel that it's worth the cost, at least not on my budget. Now, if I had the money to spend...that's another story.

I am right there with you when it comes to the cost. I feel you're paying for the "experience" and not the food. Especially when you consider the price difference of the Monte Cristo at the BB compared to Cafe Orleans. But then again...you do get the sides and salad at BB. The prime rib at River Belle is $12.99 compared to BB where it's $34. No idea the difference in size but still...when it boils down to it, you're paying for the view and service. I think everyone should try it at least once.

We went last June for our Anniversary. We all had the steak, and it was good. We knew we were mainly paying for the experience. After all the years passing by the place on the ride, we wanted to say we ate there just once!

I don't think we got the whole experience since the ride was down. I was looking forward to seeing the boats go by. We got stuck on the ride right before our reservation time, and then it was down during our entire meal.

Not real sure we'll go there again. We spent $100 on the three of us, and the food was okay, but not worth $100 IMO.
