Actually I have two questions, first is, does anyone know what the latest time for a lunch reservation is at Blue Bayou? Also I have seen menu's and I see that they do not offer the Monte Cristo sandwhich during dinner, do you know if you ask for that if you could get it? Thanks in advance for your help.:)

Dunno about the latest time for a reservation, but if you want to be sure to get in you should call in advance and make the reservation before you even arrive. 714-781-DINE

You can't get the Monte Cristo after they've stopped serving it (I've tried), but you can get it for dinner at Cafe Orleans.

I had heard it was 1530, hope someone else has a more positive answer. Calling is probably the best way.

Get the pork chops with apples! Very good!

The sandwich you can get on the outside in NOS, aim higher for the BB!

I went to DL with my husband in Sept. for my Birthday. We had dinner at Blue Bayou. We were seated off to the left side right behind the boat and the tree. It was a blast to watch all the Pirates riders knowing they couldn't see us. You can't get the sandwich for dinner, but there are other choices. I loved the pirate boat dessert, even though I was too full to eat it!

So I have always wanted to eat at the BB but I never got the chance as my folks always said it was too expensive, then the last time I went with them, they did not make advanced reservations so when they FINALLY decided to do it we couldn't because BB was booked. Now that I am planning my OWN DL trip, I really really really want to eat there. So... my question is, do they have food that DD4 will enjoy?? Since it is so expensive, for my budget anyway, I am concerned about spending a lot on food she won't eat. Is it even an appropriate resturant for kids?

Jenn1116...We brought our 3 year old, and he had a nice time being inside POTC.

However, he wanted the macaroni so we ordered it, and it was heinous. NOT the normal mac and cheese at the rest of DLR. It was, as I call it, nuclear orange, and tasted horrible. He wouldn't even taste it once he smelled it, but ate bread and bits of our salads. He ate later. At first I thought he was just overwhelmed, but when we took it to go and I saw it in the light (it's a bit dim in there!), then I tasted it, ugh.

We'll go there again, but we'll feed DS something else first and he can just have dessert. :rotfl:

(we're vegetarian and the fried pb&j scares me, so the other kid's menu items are not possible for him)

We ate there in December with DS who just turned four. We were lucky enough to get a waterside table so I think that helped keep his attention. It wasn't super quiet and there were lots of other families with young kids. It was a typical restaurant with noise, not too elegant for a child. We're fortunate that he's a pretty good eater so we ordered the prime rib and it turned out to be a great choice; he spent the entire meal dunking his meat and vegetables in the au jus. It became an activity and allowed us to enjoy our meal. We ordered the pirate boat and split it, we had a great time.

I appreciate the input, especially the kids menu. I'll call for priority seating tonight!! :) And I will definitely stay away from the scary mac n cheese!!:rotfl2:

Bumbershoot is right on.... our 2 DS's had the Mac and cheese the last time we visited and after about 2 bites gave it up... I had to try it and they were right, terrible. They ended up sharing our meals and then the cookie boats....

I'm curious if anyone has complained about how terrible the mac n cheese is? It doesn't seem right to pay for something inedible by so many standards!

Another note about the kid's menu. About a year ago when we took our neice and nephew, the nephew got the chicken drummettes. He took one bite and no more. Can't say I blame him either, I tried one and it was bland and greasy... Not good for an adult, and somebody must have been smoking/sniffing/snorting some awfully strange stuff to think it was good for a kid's menu. Grilled cheese or pizza would be a much better option IMO.

...so pizza it is? I'm beginning to reconsider. Maybe I'll share my plate.

That's a really good idea, and I can't believe I didn't do just that. But we were well outside when I tasted it and realized how awful it was...and I just wasn't in a complainy mood while there (perhaps they'll toss you in the water if you do? ha ha).
