Blue Bayou - how to get a waterside table?

We had a reservation for 8 people, at check in requested a waterside table if possible, and we only ended up waiting about 15/20 minutes for it. It was not a problem to seat our large party. It was a lunch reservation, but I don't remember what time, it was last June.

We were told last weekend that there's a new resort-wide policy and they can only check you in 10 min before your reservation. They wouldn't even take our name and add it at the 10 min mark, we had to wait and come back. We may have just been at a busy time or gotten a CM who wanted to be strict with the rules, but it could be a new thing.

We must of had the same people because yes this is true had to linger around then line up 10 minutes before
