maybe a silly question.... does Blue bayou have a dessert menu? Is there anything wrong with making a res simply for drinks and either some desserts or snack style apps for a group?

Not sure about dessert, but I tried to just get a cup of soup once (2 others in our party were ordering full meals but I wasn't that hungry) and I was told no.

I do know you can split meals. For a fee they will plate it and include extra sides.

I know many have reported previously of just getting dessert before. I'm really surprised the above poster was told they couldn't order just gumbo, we've never heard that any service was denied.

interesting..... I don't see desserts listed on any menu site,or apps that aren't served with an entree. I assumed most restaurants serve desserts....

They do serve desserts but don't really have an appetizer menu as the appetizer of salad , gumbo or shrimp cocktail ( for an up charge ) comes with your meal.

I can't recall all the desserts they listed for us but I had the Lemon creme bruelle tart and hubby had a 8 layer chocolate cake bar when we are 2 weeks ago.

The Blue Bayou does have a dessert menu, but for some really strange reason, it's not posted on Disneyland.com. I always mean to ask to see the Dessert menu when I go to Blue Bayou (and take a photo of it), but by the time dessert rolls around I'm too full and I forget to just ask to see the menu!

Blue Bayou doesn't have a separate price point appetizer menu. Each entree includes a starter (e.g., the Gumbo), but they aren't sold separately.

That's a really interesting question. I would love to hear the answer if you call and get one.

The last time we went they were very flexible with the young diners in our group (11 & 12), we were a party of 15 so they were still making good money off us :).

I can almost see them not allowing this as it would really cut down on their profit for a day. On the other hand, I can't imagine why if most of the party were ordering a full meal it would matter if a couple just wanted dessert. Again....interesting question.

I've wanted to know this as well!

One person in our party has a food allergy so is limited to what they can order and most of the items offered there don't sound very appealing to me. I really want to experience the atmosphere, though!

As far as the allergy: The last couple times we were there they were excellent about our dual gluten & dairy allergy. The chef came out & talked to my family member and they made something that fit her tastes (no spicy!) & allergy needs.

She has a shellfish allergy and have to be super careful with it. A lot of places cook everything together (i.e. cooking the fish and chicken in the same oil or at the same time, etc) which can make things difficult. She has to ask if the place serves any sort of fish before she even eats there, because sometimes it's not easily visible on the menu whether the restaurant serves something containing shellfish or not.

That's really awesome that the chef came out and was able to help you guys! Maybe they would be able to come up with something that isn't touched by the shellfish.

We ate there yesterday. They gave new menus since last year that carefully outline food allergens. I have a severe shellfish allergy and had absolutely no issues finding something delicious on the menu. The chef didn't come out like he has in years past but it really wasn't necessary.

The chef did come to our table at Minnie and friends today which was interesting. I didn't ask for him as I knew everything was safe to eat there.

Thanks for sharing your experience with that! We might just have to try it the next time we are there!

I saw you mentioned "drinks" in your original question, just wanted to make sure you knew they don't serve alcohol there. Only water, pop, specialty non-alcoholic drinks, etc.

Also, if you do go just for dessert, make sure to tip well. CMs have to work just as hard for all tables, and I've read reports of guests either stiffing the server ("Well, we hardly ate anything!") or trying to tip as minimally as possible. My CM friends say that this makes things hard for them.

I wish I could like this x1000. Servers are often overworked sometimes picking up extra tables as needed , double/triple sat and the amount of food or time taken to dine should have no bearing. If there are EVER concerns politely ask for a manager to express your concerns ratger than taking it out in the server. Even if service is horrible the only way to attend to potential issues is to address them.

While I respect and understand not everyone tips where they are from ,it is only the respectful thing to account for however.
