I asked about this a while back in another thread, but I was hoping to get some more input especially if anyone's gone recently and knows!

Next Tuesday we'll be dining at the Blue Bayou for lunch, on my boyfriend's birthday. He knows we'll be dining there, but I want some kind of a surprise for him - does the Blue Bayou accomodate anything like that, and if so, what?

Do I just sneakily mention to the host/hostess when my BF isn't paying attention that we're here for his birthday and that I'd love some kind of surprise for him, and they take care of the rest? Or do I need to specify something? I'm OK with paying extra for something if that's how it goes down but I'd just like to know what I have to do to arrange that little extra birthday surprise for him, and what it usually is!

Thanks in advance!

The most I can think of is that they might bring you out a birthday dessert with "Happy Birthday" maybe written on the plate (and you'll almost certainly have to pay for it). They could do it on the fly but I'd probably make a note on my reservation just in case. If you wanted something bigger, like a full cake, you'd have to order that in advance. I don't know the contact info but others on here have done it before and might be able to give you that information.

I don't think we'd require a cake, just a dessert is fine. :) I did mention it when I made my reservation (by email) but they didn't acknowledge it at all in their response so I don't know if anything's noted. :confused3

I have had many birthdays celebrated at the BB and they have always brought a small cake with the HB inscription. One server actually sang to me a couple years back, but quietly, it was very nice.

They asked if we were celebrating something and my wife let them know we were.

Thank you for bringing back memories for me.

I spent my 21st birthday at Disneyland - had my first legal alcoholic drink at the Disneyland Hotel! But one of my fondest memories was having my birthday dinner at the Blue Bayou.

Granted, my 21st was more than 2 decades ago (yeah, I know...), but I can still see it very clearly in my mind's eye.

See if they will allow you to sit at a table on the water's edge. I hope you guys have the best time, and I hope the memories will stay with you as long as they have for me.

In May on DH birthday they brought out a chocolate mousse with a lit candle and sang happy birthday. We were not charged for the desert.

I had dined last year for my birthday at the Blue Bayou and had received complimentary a very tasty chocolate mousse, so I would imagine that would be served for you too. No singing though thank goodness, for I did not want that attention, thank ya!

~~ I love you Phil and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

Yep!! Just make sure you mention it when you check in that it's his birthday or have him wear a birthday button and they will provide a chocolate mousse and candle!! Here is my niece with hers from just this April :)

Thanks for all the info everyone! The chocolate mousse sounds delicious! And I am definitely planning to ask for a waterside table. :wizard:
