We really want to try Blue Bayou since you can watch POTC, and we've heard great things about Ralph Brennan's. We'll probably do them on different days, but would you choose lunch or dinner for each of them and why?

If you are wanting to try the infamous monte cristo sandwich at BB, then you need to go for lunch. I understand they have taken it off the dinner menu.

I'd do lunch at Blue Bayou. It's a wonderful respite in the middle of the day, and it's usually easier to get a good waterside table. Make reservations for the earliest lunch slot and get there 20 minutes before they open.

Ralph Brennan's is in Downtown Disney, so it makes sense to go there for dinner and get out of the parks when all the locals start pouring in.

Having never eaten at Ralph Brennan's but having lived in New Orleans most of my life, go there for dinner. These guys know how to do dinner!! As a previous poster pointed out...it's more convenient to do it that way anyway due to it's location.

We always enjoy Blue Bayou for lunch. It is cheaper and the food is still great. We have tried twice to eat at Ralph Brennan's and both times were a complete disaster. The first we walked up and were told it was a short wait. An hour later we gave up and went to ESPN Zone. The second, we tried to take our parents and made a reservation. With our "reservation" the wait was supposed to be an hour again. 1 and 1/2 hours later we gave up and went to StoryTeller's. The one in New Orleans was just OK and I guess we will never find out about Disneyland.

Enjoy Blue Bayou

I also tend to go for BB at lunch for the reasons posted (but I enjoy dinner there also). I've only eaten at Ralph Brennan's once and did not have the problems of the previous poster. We no wait at all for our PS; I think we had a pretty early dinner seating. I just think DTD is more festive at night, and therefore it makes more sense to do dinner there.

Ralph Brennan's for supper is a must. We usually hit here when we arrive, the Lobster Ravioli is heavenly

AND the Bananas Foster! :thumbsup2

I agree....Blue Bayou for lunch and Ralph's for dinner. (Though I don't know if I ever need to eat at Blue Bayou again....cold, dark, expensive....OK it was January and I froze in there.)

I would do BB for lunch(hope for waterside table) and Brennans for supper. The bananas foster are out of this world. I would shoot for a weekday just because of the crowds. Make sure you can get ressie's.

While I like both places and would tend to agree with everyone else - I am biased and have to say I would do the Jazz Kitchen for lunch as their lunch and dinner menu are completely different (I have been there for both). I like the Jazz Kitchen's food and ambience (I'm a people watcher so love sitting outside) but really the only reason I eat there is to get their Deep Fried Dill Pickle Chips, which are only served at lunch time. I found that out the hard way! Oh man, they may not sound appetizing but for any pickle lover out there it is awesome! :cool1:

I haven't eaten at Blue Bayou for lunch in years. The last time we ate there was for dinner back in August or September and it was just alright. We were able to sit by the water (had to wait longer for that table) but it was fun and worth it. My favorite part of the meal was the Cookie Boat dessert, I assume they still have it. I am bummed they got rid of the clam chowder (it was so yummy) but the wedge salad is good too!

I think you will have a good time, no matter what time you go to either restuarant. :)

I usually have lunch at Jazz Kitchen ALSO (love to people watch on the patio). I'll have to check out the pickle chips next time....I LOVE DILL PICKLES! Thanks for the tip!
