Don't know if this has been posted but fairly new member so please bear with me I've heard so many different views on this Is the blue badge for the disabled valid in Florida Or do we have to get a temporary badge when we get there Thanks in advance :cheer2:

I have a blue badge. Here how it worked last october

Disney, on property, will honor UK blue badges. You can park on disabled parking spots at all 4 theme parks.
Downtown Disney is another story, as it is "public access"

for every other location, you need a temporary (red) florida parking permit

you need to email the osceola tax office in order to get one
I didn't check the thread PP mentionned, but if you need additional info, just drop a line here.

edit : ok, lol, looks like I was involved in that thread too, lol
just to add that, while many parking enforcement "officers" will not frown upon a UK blue badge (outside of disney proprety) it might be best getting a Florida tag, as you may encounter the odd enforcement person who will decide that your badge is not valid (and they would be right by the letter of the law)

They seem to change the wording to this law all the time. When we went in January we used our Irish disabled permit for parking everywhere with no problems my brother is the one with the disability. I know back then it stated in the law once the pass was in English it was ok to use. Now it seem to have changed again its starting to confuse me lol. Here is the wording to
The updated law.

Out-of-state or Country Disabled Parking Permit

Can I use my Disabled Parking Permit or special license plate that was issued to me by my state or country while I'm visiting Florida?

Yes. Florida law, Section 316.1958, states we will honor any special license plate or parking permit issued to a disabled person by any other state or district subject to the laws of the United States, or by a foreign country that issues disabled parking permits that display the international symbol of accessibility.

However, when an individual is required by law to have a Florida driver's license or a Florida vehicle registration, a special motor vehicle license plate or parking permit issued by another state, district, or country to persons who have disabilities is not valid and the individual whose vehicle displays such an invalid plate or permit is subject to the same penalty as an individual whose vehicle does not display a valid plate or permit. A law enforcement officer or parking enforcement specialist may not ticket a vehicle for a violation of Florida Statute 316.1955 without first determining whether the vehicle is transporting a resident of another state who is the owner of the out-of-state placard.
